         U.S. Government Rolls Out New DS-160 Visa Application Form in Vietnam

Hanoi, March 31, 2010 – Beginning April 16, 2010, U.S. Embassy Hanoi and U.S. Consulate General Ho
Chi Minh City will require all nonimmigrant visa applicants to complete the web-based DS-160
Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application in order to apply for a visa. These changes are part of our
continued effort to provide excellent customer service and streamline the visa process. The DS-160
application will replace the DS-156 application and the supplementary DS-157 and DS-158 application
forms that are required of certain visa applicants. More than 70 U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide
have already successfully switched to the DS-160 form. As of April 16, the old DS-156 will no longer be
available for use online. Any DS-156 forms created prior to that date will still be accepted after April 16.

The U.S. Government remains committed to facilitating legitimate travel to the United States. Applicants
will continue to complete visa application forms online, as they did previously with the Electronic Visa
Application Form. With the new form, the applicant will be required to upload a visa photograph, and
submit the form via the Internet. The electronic form also transforms the visa process into a "green" and
environmentally friendly operation by eliminating entirely the need for paper application forms. The
applicant will print just one confirmation page upon completion of the DS-160.

The new DS-160 form assists us in collecting required information accurately the first time. Customer
service surveys at posts that have piloted the use of the DS-160 indicate greater applicant satisfaction with
the DS-160 than with the form it replaced. And, because the form is web-based, it can be revised and
improved as necessary. In addition, in the future applications could be pre-processed and pre-screened
before an applicant's interview, reducing processing delays.

Hà Nội, 31/3/2010 – Bắt đầu từ ngày 16/4/2010, Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ ở Hà Nội và Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa
Kỳ ở thành phố Hồ Chí Minh sẽ yêu cầu tất cả cảc đương đơn xin visa không di dân điền vào Tờ khai xin
Visa Không di dân Điện tử DS-160 ứng dụng mạng để làm hồ sơ xin visa. Những thay đổi này là một phần
trong nỗ lực của chúng tôi nhằm cung cấp dịch vụ khách hàng tuyệt vời và tinh giản thủ tục visa. Tờ khai
DS-160 sẽ thay thế Tờ khai DS-156 và các tờ khai bổ sung DS-157 và DS-158 bắt buộc đối với một số
đương đơn xin visa. Hơn 70 Đại sứ quán và Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ trên thế giới đã chuyển đổi thành công
sang áp dụng tờ khai DS-160. Kể từ ngày 16/4/2010, tờ khai DS-156 cũ sẽ không còn được sử dụng trực
tuyến nữa. Bất kỳ tờ khai DS-156 nào được lập trước thời hạn trên sẽ vẫn được chấp nhận sau ngày 16/4.

Chính phủ Hoa Kỳ luôn cam kết tạo điều kiện thuận lợi cho việc đi lại chính đáng đến Hoa Kỳ. Các đương
đơn sẽ tiếp tục điền các tờ khai xin visa trên mạng như đã làm trước đây đối với Tờ khai xin Visa Điện tử.
Với tờ khai mới, đương đơn sẽ phải gửi ảnh visa và tờ khai qua Internet. Tờ khai điện tử cũng làm cho thủ
tục visa trở thành một hoạt động “xanh” và thân thiện với môi trường nhờ việc loại bỏ hoàn toàn nhu cầu sử
dụng các tờ khai bằng giấy. Đương đơn sẽ in đúng một trang xác nhận khi hoàn tất tờ khai DS-160.

Tờ khai DS-160 mới giúp chúng tôi thu thập các thông tin bắt buộc một cách chính xác ngay lần đầu tiên.
Các cuộc khảo sát về dịch vụ khách hàng tại các cơ quan ngoại giao đã áp dụng thí điểm tờ khai DS-160
cho thấy đương đơn hài lòng nhiều hơn về tờ khai này so với tờ khai cũ. Và vì tờ khai là dạng ứng dụng
mạng nên nó có thể được sửa và bổ sung nếu cần thiết. Ngoài ra, trong tương lai các hồ sơ có thể được xử lý
và kiểm tra trước khi phỏng vấn đương đơn, giúp giảm thời gian chờ xử lý hồ sơ.
