EMA Online Newsletter May 2009 With the holiday period of April, there has been little news coming in for the newsletter. Sheffield Community Cohesion Conference ---------------------------------------------------Thursday 18th June 2009 Holiday Inn, Victoria Station Road, Sheffield This conference aims to provide a forum where educational practitioners can share their expertise and experience on community cohesion. The conference will bring together national consultants, practitioners, researchers and headteachers in the field of community cohesion. The seminars are designed to share practical strategies on community cohesion and are led by experienced practitioners. There will be an opportunity to view a range of resources and displays. They comprise some 30 printed work tasks for students studying OCR 21st century syllabus in modules B1,C1 and P1, concentrating on the actual science rather than the 'Issues in science' part of the syllabus. The resources are in English, and with the aim of producing comprehensible input'and highlighting key words, hopefully enabling students to produce comprehensible output. The materials may be downloaded at http://www.emaonline.org.uk/ema/index.cfm?p=resources,show_res&rid=492&item=eal but access to them is currently on the front page of the web site. The creators of EMA Online always hoped that the site would become an easy way for teachers to share the resources they have created and we are grateful to Ann for all her generosity and hard work.
