                                       and Accreditation

Students in the UK apply to university through
UCAS, which recommends a tariff for converting IB
               scores for entry to university.
UCAS Tariff Points for the IB DIPLOMA

                  24 IB points = 260 UCAS points
                   (Roughly B, B, C at A-level)

                  30 IB points = 392 UCAS points
                   (Roughly B, B, B, A at A-level)

                  45 IB points = 720 UCAS points
                      (Roughly 6 As at A-level)

                        Transition to University

Students completing the DP will have multiple options for
further advanced study, and their IB experience and the
strength of preparation it offers will be recognized by
universities.

                           The CURT Position

Universities consider the IB Diploma to be one of the
most demanding secondary school curricula, offering
ideal preparation for post-secondary studies. A student's
participation in IB courses is, therefore, a very important
consideration in admission decisions. It is to a student's
distinct advantage to have completed IB courses, but
especially so if the student is completing the IB Diploma.
If the student is to benefit during the admission
process, it is essential for universities to have the
applicant's status as either an IB Diploma or Certificate
student identified on the high school transcript.

  IB Diploma Program
• Align IB’s academic content standards with the
Knowledge and Skills for University Success (KSUS)
• Align the IB standards with several states

                                                 IB Standards and
                                                College Readiness

Key Finding
“The results of this study clearly confirm the strong
relationship between the IB Programme and standards for
college readiness and success. The IB standards
demonstrate a very high degree of alignment with the KSUS
standards in all subject areas. In addition, many the
individual IB standards are at a level more advanced than
entry-level college courses. . . In short, students who
participate successfully in IB should be well prepared to
succeed in entry-level college general education courses
and in some cases to have already learned material covered
in such courses.”

                                      Goal of the Project

To determine what it takes to succeed in entry-
level college courses by asking the university
faculty who teach them

                                                     Conclusions

The conclusion of the studies undertaken for this project is
that students who are exposed to the IB curriculum are
learning material that is highly aligned with the expectations of
university faculty and that in many cases IB standards exceed
those expectations.
