PACK 136 MARCH 2009 NEWSLETTER UPCOMING EVENTS: Wednesday March 18, 2009 Pack Meeting 6:30 pm The meeting will be held at the Epping Middle School Cafeteria. Den 3 will be responsible for setup/cleanup & opening, Den 7 for a song, Den 4 for a skit/song, Den 2 for a game and Den 1 for the closing. Reminder to parents to not leave your children unattended. The kids should remain in the cafeteria and out of the hallways and lobby. No drop- offs. Den Leaders, please contact Matt Cray by 3/13 for any missing awards to be given out at the Pack meeting Bring your pinewood derby cars to the meeting to be checked and weighed in prior to the race. T-shirt orders are in and will be distributed at the meeting. Saturday March 21, 2009 Pinewood Derby, Epping Elementary School Rules will be posted on the website. Volunteers setting up track/computers or making pancakes should arrive at 7:00am, other volunteers at 7:30am, check-in is at 8:00am, and the race starts at 9:00am. Pancakes can be purchased for breakfast at the event, as a fundraiser for the Pack. Den Leaders; please contact Cliff Cray with names of any scouts who are not participating in the race. Saturday April 18, 2009 Museum of Science Permission slips will need to be completed, and insurance information provided from drivers of those carpooling. For those who would like to meet and drive in together, meet at the Epping Community Church prior to departure. Other information regarding check-in and parking at the Museum is available on their website, www.museumofscience.org. Summer Camps A deposit for summer camp is due by March 15th to the council to receive the largest discount. Don’t forget to schedule a physical if needed. More information, registration forms and medical forms can be found on the Daniel Webster Council website at www.nhscouting.org. Resident Camp for cub scouts will be at Camp Carpenter, Manchester, NH (week 7) August 9-13th. Day Camp for cub scouts will be at the Raymond Sportsmen’s Club July 6-10th. Boy Scout camp will be at Hidden Valley located at Griswold Scout Reservation (GSR) in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH (week 6) August 2-8th. Don’t forget 75% of funds raised at Hikathon can contribute to the cost of camp. Other Events and Information Volunteers are needed for to fill positions that will become vacant in June for Secretary and Committee Chairman, as well as other Committee Members. Round Table is the second Tuesday each month at 7:30pm at the Epping High School Cafeteria. All leaders are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is 3/10/09. Hikathon - was originally scheduled for 4/11, but is being rescheduled – date to be announced.
