1. 3 weeks before- put announcement in bulletin about baby dedication class with
time, date and location.
2. week before- do dedication class- have parents fill out information sheet, explain
commitment, service, and fill out sheet.
3. week before- prepare certificates
4. day before- buy roses for presentation
5. day of- do dedication service
1. Go through service order
2. Pray for baby
3. Present certificates
4. Present roses and explain - white for purity of child
yellow for bright future
red for love of God for the child

A Dedication Service
“They brouth young children to him, that he should touch them.... And he took them up in his arms,
put his hands upon them, and blessed them.” (Mark 10:13, 16)
The Agreement of Dedication
God’s Part: “The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his
righteousness unto children’s children; to such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his
commandments to do them.” (Ps. 103:17, 18)
“It is not the will of your Father which isin heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”
The Parents’ Part: “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt
teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou
walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deut. 6:6,7 )
The Charge To The Parents
The minister shall charge the parents, using words similar to the following:
In this service of dedication we declare our faith in God; we recongize these children as His gifts to our
homes; we promise to nuture them in the knowledge of God and in the spirit of Jesus Christ- dedicating them
as far as we may, to the service of God and their fellows, trusting that they may ratify this dedication when
they reach the years of discretion.

The Act of Dedication
The minister may now conclude in words similar to the following:
I now dedicate these children to the Chrisitian life, to the worship of God, and to the service of their
fellowmen; in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayer of Dedication
There shall be an extemporaneous prayer of dedication by the minister, or someone appointed by him.
A suitable hymn may be sung and, if the service is to be concluded at this point, the benediction may be
pronounced while the parents and the children still stand before the minister.
