DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

The following list of documents are needed for importation: S


       Way Bill of Lading
       Packing List
       Copy of the passport
       Copy of the valid visa
       Valued inventory in English or Russian *
       Power of attorney document
       Confirmation of employment in Kazakhstan

*NOTE: The valued inventory is purely for customs duty purposes and does not need
to correlate with the values declared for insurance purposes.

CUSTOMS CLEARANCE


       The consignee should be present at the destination and should have a valid visa.
       The consignee should be employed with a registered company.
       Temporary import of HHG and personal effects in Kazakhstan is duty and taxes free.
        This is valid for one year, can be renewed every year until the time the expatriate has
        finished his stay, and is ready to re-export the shipment.
       Permanent import of HHG and personal effects is subject to customs duties and taxes.
        Additionally, a V.A.T. of 20% is charged on the import.
       Only a limited amount of foodstuff, new items, and electronics are allowed duty free.

LIQUOR

The allowance limit for duty free import of wine and spirits for personal consumption is two liters
per person. All excess is subject to the following:


       Excise duty of $1.00 / liter
       Customs duty of up to 30% of value
       V.A.T. of 20% of value
       Customs procedures duty of .2% of value

PROHIBITED GOODS

Some prohibited goods include, but are not limited to:


       Weapons of all kinds
       Pornography
       Narcotics
       Exportation of antiques (carpets, paintings, books, or other items of cultural and/or
        historic value.)

MOTOR VEHICLES

Cars can be imported duty and tax-free on a temporary basis. Yearly fee must be paid on such
imports and sale of the temporary car is not allowed. Permanent import is subject to the tax and
duties as per customs tariff.

PETS

The following documents are necessary:


       Vaccination Certificate
       Veterinary Certificate

GENERAL COMMENTS


       Mark very clearly on the waybills, "USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL
        EFFECTS."
       Packing list should be in English or Russian.
       Items such as books, CD’s, and audio or videotapes should not be mentioned on the
        packing list. If it is necessary to include these items, make sure to list the author, year
        of publication, and the topic of each item separately.
       A separate list describing the values of high tech equipment, works of art, antique
        carpet, silver, and musical instruments should be included to avoid any problems when
        re-exporting at a later date.

Kenya




DOCUMENTS REQUIRED


       Passport (original) – (If issued within last two years the old passport is also required)
       Work Permit for non-Kenyan citizens
       Baggage Declaration Form C-18 signed by customer
       Bank Release
       Inventory in English, valued and detailed showing the number of packages and in
        triplicate
       Insurance Certificate
       Invoices for electrical items and serial numbers
       Certificate of change of address

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS


       CUSTOMER MUST BE PRESENT AT CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
       Goods are subject to 100% Customs verification
       Used household goods and personal effects are duty-free for returning Kenyan citizens
        provided they have resided outside Kenya for a minimum of two years and effects are
        imported within three months of owner's arrival
       Non-Kenyan citizens (first time arrivals) are permitted to import used household goods
        and personal effects duty-free within three months of Work Permit being issued
       Kenyan citizens who have resided for more than two years outside Kenya are not
        entitled to import used household goods and personal effects duty-free
       Household goods must have been in owner’s possession for at least one year prior to
        import. If new, duty will be charged at the current rates.

DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS


       Alcoholic beverages
       New items (may require Import License and are subject to payment of Customs duties
        and taxes)
       Fabric pieces
       Trade goods or goods for sale or disposed to other persons
       Aircraft and vessels of all kinds
       Used machinery
       All computers whether new or old (except under diplomatic status) or unless imported
        by a student who is studying computer studies

PROHIBITED ITEMS


       Weapons, silencers, ammunitions, toy guns and explosives, including tear gas
             o Firearms require a certificate to be issued by Nairobi Firearms Bureau for
                  import
       Plants, seeds, bulbs, fresh fruit and vegetables (unless a permit is obtained from the
        Ministry of Agriculture stating plants are free from disease)
       Pornographic material
       Drugs
       Political literature

MOTOR VEHICLES


       Importation highly restricted and time consuming
       First time arrivals to Kenya and returning Kenyan citizens residing outside Kenya for a
        minimum of two years are permitted to import ONE auto duty-free provided:
             o Auto is more than three months old and has been registered in owner's name
                 for more than three months
             o Auto is less than 2,500 cc
             o Auto is not sold within 12 months of import
             o Owner's Work Permit has been approved for first time arrivals to Kenya
             o Owner is 18 years of age or older
       Documents required:
             o Import Declaration Form (IDF), Clean Report (IDF) and Clean Report Finding
                 (CRF)
             o Authority to import vehicle letter
             o Log Book
             o Certificate of Registration (indicate engine and chassis number, first date of
                 registration and engine capacity)
             o Certificate of local value
             o Passport (if issued within last two years, the old passport is also required)
             o Customs C15 Form
             o New autos require invoice bearing engine and chassis number
             o Work Permit

PETS


       Import permit must be obtained from the Veterinary Department at Kabete, Nairobi
        prior to shipping
       Up to date Vaccination Certificate from country of origin must be provided on arrival
       Dogs and cats are exempt from Value Added Tax but are dutiable
       Birds and bird eggs are prohibited

Korea




DOCUMENTS REQUIRED


       Original Passport for each member of the family
       Visa (valid for over one year)
       Work Permit from Embassy stating that customer will be in Korea for over twelve
        months
       Residence Card for each member of the family or an Employment Certificate (terms of
        stay should state over two years)
       Inventory (original and one copy) must be legible and include model and serial numbers
        for ALL electrical appliances
       Insurance Certificate
       Power of Attorney
       Delivery address and contact phone number
       NOTE: CUSTOMER'S CORRECT NAME (AS SHOWN IN PASSPORT) MUST BE
        SHOWN ON ALL DOCUMENTS OTHERWISE SHIPMENT WILL NOT BE RELEASED
        BY KOREAN CUSTOMS

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS


       CUSTOMER MUST BE PRESENT FOR CUSTOMS EXAMINATION
       All shipments 100% inspected
       Shipment must arrive within six months of customer's arrival (three months if coming
        from Southeast Asia)
       Used household goods and personal effects are duty-free for foreigners, if intending to
        reside in Korea for over one year with family or two years alone (immigrant removal). If
        estimated length of stay is less than two years, shipment is classified as a quasi-
        immigrant removal, resulting in higher duties
       Used household goods and personal effects duty-free for Koreans if they have lived in a
        foreign country for over two years alone; or one year with family
       All items (even if used) dutiable if owner does not meet above duty-free criteria
       NOTE: ALL KOREAN CUSTOMS PROCEDURES ARE TIGHTLY CONTROLLED AND
        CLEARANCE CAN BE OBTAINED ONLY AT BUSAN OR INCHON BY SURFACE;
        SEOUL OR BUSAN BY AIR

DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS


       New items (less than six months old) or duplicate items are dutiable/taxed
       Any item (new or used) valued over $1,500 is dutiable
       All electrical items, cameras (of any type), foodstuff, musical instruments, pianos,
        carpet, ski and air cleaners, crystal ware and golf clubs, luxurious furniture, mink coats
        and jewelry are all dutiable
       Alcohol and tobacco products are dutiable
       CD's (five allowed import, any in excess of that must be approved by the Secretary of
        Culture and Athleticism with a Letter of Recommendation completed by the customer)

PROHIBITED ITEMS


       Narcotics and medicines without prescriptions
       Firearms, weapons and ammunition (rifles can only be imported with a special permit
        from the proper Korean authority)
       Pornographic or politically sensitive material
       Imitation banking notes or coins of foreign countries
       Plants must pass inspection in the quarantine office
       Meats and fish

MOTOR VEHICLES


       Motor vehicles are generally dutiable regardless of whether new or used
       Foreign made cars may not be sold or transferred for at least three years
       Boats and motorcycles are dutiable
       Japanese made cars are not allowed to be imported
       Documents required:
            o Original Registration Certificate
            o Original Purchase Receipt or Invoice, with certified purchase amount
            o Work Permit valid for more than one year
            o Passport
            o Customs Declaration
            o Title
            o Insurance Policy
            o Vehicle must be listed on the inventory with full technical specifications (make,
                model, plate number, year, etc.)

PETS


       Health and Rabies Inoculation Certificates required (must show proof that vaccination
        was administered at least 30 days prior to flight)
       Quarantine of 30 days required unless imported from a rabies free country, then only a
        one day quarantine is required
       Documents required:
            o Passport of owner and family

USEFUL INFORMATION

Korean customs do not allow port-to-door delivery of a loose load container. It must be
unloaded at the customs bonded warehouse and inspected. After customs clearance, the goods
will be transported to the residence by truck.

Kuwait

        Passport (two copies of info page and Residence Permit page)
        Visa
        Residence Permit (Kiama)
        Temporary Import License
        "No Objection Certificate" required from the Ministry of Interior
        Declaration from employer that customer is employed by a specific firm
        Letter from employer stating customer's purpose of stay
        Descriptive inventory (original) showing brand name, make and model of all items
        Invoice and Certificate of Origin (bearing manufacturer's name and address) for new
         items and personal computers
        Authorization letter in Arabic to clear shipments. This can be obtained from the
         consigned upon arrival in Kuwait
        Copy of Civil ID (Kuwait ID card)
        Inventory showing gross weight and number of packages

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS


        CUSTOMER'S PRESENCE IS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS
        Personal effects such as clothing and books are permitted duty-free provided they
         arrive by air
        Used household goods are permitted, but subject to duty
        All shipments inspected

DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS


        Electronic items included in shipment will delay Customs and subject to approval by
         Ministry of Commercial Industry
        Medication and foodstuff (subject to special approval and inspection by the Ministry of
         Health), must be packed separately
        New items
        Pesticides/insecticides, paints, chemicals subject to approval by Environmental
         Protection Authority

       Pork products
       Alcoholic beverages of any type including beer and wine-making kits
       Gambling equipment
       Pornographic or political, military literature or controversial materials
       Objects or.../images which could be construed as a graven image or contrary to Islamic
        morality
       *ALL PRINTED MATTER, BOOKS, PICTURES RECORDS, FILMS, TAPES, SLIDES, MOVIES,
        VIDEOS, COMPACT DISCS, COMPUTER SOFTWARE, ETC. ARE SUBJECT TO CENSORSHIP
        AND CONFISCATION (MUST BE PACKED SEPARATELY FOR EASY ACCESS)
       Prohibited goods MUST NOT BE INCLUDED with the goods being shipped
       Any prohibited items in shipment will be confiscated and may be destroyed without the
        customer's consent

MOTOR VEHICLES


       OWNER'S PRESENCE REQUIRED AT CUSTOMS CLEARANCE FOR ANY VEHICLE
       Non-Kuwaiti individuals/firms are not allowed to import vehicles into Kuwait
       Vehicles subject to duties
       Used vehicles over five years old are not permitted
       Owner of the vehicle must have a valid Residence Permit in order to import an auto
       Contact destination agent prior to importation to obtain current regulations
       Documents required:
            o Registration Certificate
            o Purchase Invoice

PETS


       Importation discouraged due to climate
       Rabies vaccination and valid health certificate
