                                      Important Dates
                           For the 2011 South Carolina Book Festival

To expedite the application process, you can now pay online at
www.scbookfestival.com AND fax your application to 803-771-2487. Application is
incomplete without both the forms and payment. Or mail application and check to
the address below. All applications will be reviewed by committee and you will be
notified if accepted.

February 1, 2011: Deadline for Early Bird Registration (application forms and payment
due in full).

March 1, 2011: Deadline for Registration (application forms and payment due in full).

May 13, 2011: Exhibitor set-up day, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Doors lock at 4:00 PM.

May 13-15, 2011: SC Book Festival, Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, at
1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC.

Festival Hours, Saturday, May 14, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Sunday, May 15, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
*Exhibitors must have badges on for early entry 1 hour before show.

              This application does not imply acceptance into the SCBook Festival.

 If your application is accepted, you will be notified by SCBook Festival with an email
                             confirmation of acceptance.

 Publicity materials will be mailed out in late March to accepted Exhibitors. If you do
           not receive information by April 1, 2010, please contact our office.

                 2011 SCBOOK FESTIVAL EXHIBITOR TERMS AND CONDITIONS Governing All Exhibits and Exhibitors

I,_____________________________ (Please Print Clearly) hereby known as Exhibitor, have read the enclosed 2011 SCBOOK FESTIVAL
EXHIBITOR TERMS AND CONDITIONS Governing All Exhibits and Exhibitors and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center
Policies and agree to follow and abide by these stated policies and terms at the 2011 South Carolina Book Festival, to be held
on May 13-15, 2011, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC.

1. This application shall constitute a valid and binding contract. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis,
based upon receipt of this application. Booth assignments are made after receipt of payment. Placement/destination location
of booth is not guaranteed. The Humanities Council SC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse participation in the Event,
or to limit the number of booths provided, to any applicant for any or no reason.
2. The terms and conditions of the Exhibitor Information Guide, as amended from time to time by The Humanities Council SC,
which shall be provided to Exhibitor prior to the Event, shall be considered a part of this contract. Exhibitor is responsible to
review the Exhibitor Information Guide carefully and be familiar with the terms and conditions therein.
3. Exhibitor may distribute non-food samples, printed advertising, and souvenirs and may perform music and display artwork from
within Exhibitors’ own booth only; provided that all distributed, performed or displayed materials (“Exhibitor Material”) shall be
subject to the approval of The Humanities Council SC, in its sole discretion. In addition, Exhibitor shall be solely
responsible for obtaining, and warrants to The Humanities Council SC that it has obtained, all necessary licenses and permissions
to distribute, perform or display any Exhibitor Material which is protected by copyright, trademark, publicity or misappropriation
laws, or any other intellectual property or other laws.
4. Exhibitors give the The Humanities Council SC or its designees permission to use their voice, image or likeness as it appears in
any photographic or audio recording in any manner, in all media, in perpetuity.
5. (a) Exhibitor shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Humanities Council SC, Event sponsors and their employees,
representatives and agents of each from claims, liabilities, costs and charges (including attorneys’ fees and costs) for injury, loss
or damage to property or persons (including death) arising out of Exhibitor’s activities in connection with the Event, or any
breach of representation, warranty or covenant in this contract. (b) The Humanities Council SC, Event sponsors and their
employees, representatives and agents of each shall not be liable for any claims, liabilities, costs and charges (including
attorneys’ fees and costs) arising out of any injury, loss or damage to the person or property of Exhibitor, its employees,
representatives or agents, except to the extent arising out of the sole negligence of The Humanities Council SC or Event
sponsors. (c) Exhibitor shall provide and maintain in effect workers’ compensation and employee liability (if applicable) and
comprehensive general liability insurance containing a waiver of subrogation in favor of The Humanities Council SC in such
amounts acceptable to The Humanities Council SC and evidence of such insurance shall be provided to The Humanities
Council SC promptly upon its request.
6. The Exhibitor Contact listed on the Exhibitor Application Form of this contract shall be authorized to make all decisions
regarding exhibiting.
7. Exhibitor shall pay all sales or other taxes, fees and assessments required by any applicable federal, state or local law in
connection with Exhibitor’s participation in the Event. Exhibitor shall indemnify, defend and hold The Humanities Council SC
harmless for any taxes (including fees and penalties, if any) required to be paid by The Humanities Council SC in connection with
Exhibitor’s activities under this contract. Exhibitor shall provide The Humanities Council SC with all requested documentation to
evidence Exhibitor’s compliance with tax laws and rules.
8. Under no circumstances shall The Humanities Council SC be liable for consequential, indirect, special or punitive damages of
any kind in connection with its activities or omissions under this contract regardless of whether such damages were foreseeable.
9. Failure to adhere to any deadlines set forth in this agreement may result in forfeiture of related benefits.
10. Exhibitor may not assign this contract or trade, sell, share or otherwise transfer the advertising or exhibiting rights hereto.
11. Waiver of any term of this contract or failure of The Humanities Council SC to terminate this contract on account of any
breach by Exhibitor shall not be deemed a waiver of The Humanities Council SC’s rights to subsequently enforce any term or to
terminate this contract by reason of any subsequent breach by Exhibitor.
12. This contract, together with any exhibits or attachments, constitutes the parties’ entire agreement with respect to the subject
matter hereof and supersedes all prior statements or agreements, either written or oral. Exhibitor agrees that no representations
of any kind have been made to Exhibitor by The Humanities Council SC or by any of its agents and that no understanding has
been made or agreement entered into other than as set forth herein.
13. This contract shall be governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina. This contract shall be deemed to be entered into
and performed in the County of Richland, where the office of The Humanities Council SC is located, and such County shall be
the forum of any legal action relating to this contract.
14. If for any reason the Event is canceled or rescheduled, Exhibitor’s sole remedy shall be the recovery of the fees paid pursuant
to this contract (on a pro-rata basis if only a portion of the Event is canceled).
15. Booth pricing: on or before February 1, 2011 each booth is $310 for-profit rate or $180 not-for-profit rate. After February 1,
2010 each booth is $385 for-profit rate and $250 not-for-profit rate. Additional services for fees could apply at the request of the
Exhibitor. See the Application Form for the breakdown of such charges.

       Exhibit booth is a 10’ x 10’ space consisting of the following:
                8’ high back drape and 3’ high side dividers
                1 Table: 2’ x 8’ skirted table (per booth)

Any two or more adjacent booths may be rented to provide a double or larger booth. Additional equipment and services for
booth spaces are available for a charge. See below for charges and services available. Additional tables, chairs, supplies
cannot be guaranteed to be available for rent on site. Please inform SCBook Festival staff by Tuesday, March 1, 2011 and submit
payments in full if you require additional services or items not indicated on your original submission form.


Deadlines for Applications: all application forms and payments in full must be received by March 1, 2011 for inclusion
in publicity, festival programs, and printed materials. No cancellations or refunds. Payments in Full made after March 1, 2011 for
Exhibitors may exclude Exhibitors from publicity and printed materials. Completed Applications and Payments in Full must be
made prior to March 1, 2011 to be considered as an Exhibitor.

                                                  Exhibitor Rental Rates and Charges
All rates are advance order prices. Floor prices are expensive and not all requests can be made on set-up day. Make sure to
pre-order your services on this form or call the office if you do not see a service you require for your booth. Maximum of three
booths per exhibitor. Maximum total of three tables per booth. Each booth comes with one 2’x 8’ table. You may add either
one 2’x8’ table and one 2’x6’ table or two 2’x6’ tables. Limit of two separate businesses to each booth rental. One Exhibitor
Name will be designated for publicity, festival program and signage. You can now pay online at www.scbookfestival.org.
