• Theseus felt that the best way to free his people from their forced pledge was to kill the Minotour. • So when the time came to send forteen young people to King Minos as a sacrfice. • Thesues offered to go as one of the young people.

• Just before the ship had departed for Crete under black sails. • Thesus told his father that if he survived the returng ship would carry a big sail. • If he had been killed in his effort, the black sails would still be sailing in the sea.

• When Thesus arrived at Crete he told the King that he was the son of poseidon, the ruler of the sea. • To test Theseus cliamed King Minos took a golden ring from one of his fingers and threw it. • Who ever got the ring was rich.

• Theseus was commanded to retrieve it. • Theseus dived into the churning waters and returned, but not only with the golden diamondon the ring but with the ring there was the crown of AMPHIRITE. • Poseidon’s wife.

• This feat greatly mpressed Minos. • Shortly after his arrival at Crete. • Ariadne, the daughter of Minos fell in love with Theseus. • To win his affection, Ariadne always looked for ways to help people.

• Ariadne told Theseus that her father had a big and very spiesal building constructed to hold the monster. • The building that Ariadne fathers had, was called the labyrinth, the labyrinth was avast maze of corridors and passageways that turned a lot and twisted twice that amount. • The Minotour was in the Labyrinth.

• Once inside, it was very easy to get lost and it was Simpassible to find a way out of the Labyrinth building. • Ariadne gave Theseus a sword with which to kill the minotour and massive ball of a string.

• Ariadne instruced Thesreu to tie the end Jof the string to the knob on the door before he entered:As Theseus travelled through the long corridors he was to unravel the string. • Once Theseus killed the beast, Theseus could find his way out of the Labrinth because the string was still there.

• Theseus saw the the beast and he killed it with the golden sword and escaped from the Labyrinth by following the string . • Theseus quickly gathered up Ariadne and the thirteen young children who came with Theseus. • They senth sail for Athens.

• On the way they stopped at the island of Naxos where they left Ariadne on the island. • But she was saved by the another god took her to Mount Olympus. • With the joy of killing the Minotaur. • Theseus forgot to put up the white sail.

• With the shock and of seeing the black sail Aegeus jumped into the sea and killed himself. • Theseus then became ruler of Greece.
