interesting that Magedson claims to be a consumer advocate, but if a business against whom a complaint has been posted on his web site pays him enough, he will remove the complaint. Magedson has apparently made lots of money shaking down businesses like yours. There is a wonderful article in the Phoenix New Times summarizing how Ed Magedson extorts businesses into paying him to remove complaints about their business from his website. Several big companies have sued Magedson and his company, and have expended huge amounts of money trying to chase him down, at least so far, to no avail. While I know that you do not like having this online about you, I think you should balance the harm the website creates versus the cost of your attempting to get it off the website. Several companies have spent several tens of thousands of dollars in attorney fees, and have yet to be successful in removing the complaints about them from Magedson's website, or to get a money judgment against Magedson, which may not be collectable in any event. Further, I you sue, there is always the possibility that Magedson could move the complaint about you higher on the hit list, too. Except for one case, Magedson has paid attorney fees to defend the matter, so you can't count on his rolling over in the event that you do file a suit. Further, when I type in "Rip-off Report," I get as many bad sites about it as I do references to it. It seems to me that its credibility is waning. I do not handle either extortion or RICO suits. If you do determine to proceed, I will be pleased to attempt to secure an attorney to represent you against Magedson, his website, and the company that owns the website. As you can tell, however, if I were you I would leave bad enough alone, as it appears Magedson has insulated himself and his website very well.
