                          Opening of Kruger Hall Commons
 University of Toronto
                          K    ruger Hall Commons opened on October 26th to great reviews. Under the watchful
                                eye of project manager, Samiddha Arysaingh, the old Drill Hall became three distinct
                           spaces: an event hall, a lower lounge and a mezzanine lounge. The Commons was
                           transformed by U of T architect George Phelps into a warm, welcoming space where

                           There was an opening for students on October 28th, Liza Nassim, dean of students, said
                           at the time, “to have a space that is so beautiful where students can hangout, meet each
                           other and build community is wonderful. We have a lot of commuting students, too, so it’s
                           important for them to have a place to feel comfortable and it’s nice that it can be located
                           in Woodsworth.”
                                                                       The space is very functional: Kruger Hall and
                                                                       the lower lounge can be used for student events
                                                                       as the furniture is on wheels and can be easily
              before                                                   reconfigured. As well, the space is equipped

                                                                       lectures and presentations.
                                                                         One student said, “It is a very warm, friendly
                                                                         environment and I will definitely stop here
                                                                         between classes-it will become my next home.”
                           Another student said, “I like the open concept and the comfy chairs-they make studying
                           easier. All the wood looks really nice and I like the colour combinations and the fact
                           that it is well lit. I had exams in here and it looks totally different. It was so dull and
                           barren. I’ll definitely stop by now.”
                           The space is a joint venture with Rotman Commerce. Please come by and visit.
