PROPOSAL GUIDELINES Please forward your application to the following address Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung Postfach 1852 D-61288 Bad Homburg v.d.H. Include three hardcopies (one of them not stapled) and a CD containing the entire proposal. 1 1.1 General information Project title 1.2 Project leader and co-applicants Provide full addresses and contact data of the applicant/co-applicant/project leader. Please identify one project leader who takes on responsibility towards the foundation for the entire project. Please provide a short cvs and a publication list covering the past 5 years of the project leader and the co-applicants. 1.3 Duration of project 2 1.4 Amount of funds requested 1.5 Information on the applicant institution 1.5.1 Legal form (e.g. corporation, trust, foundation, other association) 1.5.2 Public interest (non-profit) status 1.5.3 Membership in organisations which are relevant to the application 1.5.4 General description of the applicant institution including organisational and financial structure, types of activities, number of employees, advisory etc.. 2 2.1 Description of the project Summary A concise summary of the objectives pursued by the project and of the anticipated results. 2.2 Present state of research and knowledge Give a brief overview of the scientific context of the proposed project including an assessment of the competitiveness of the approach planned. 2.3 Preparatory work Summarize relevant previous results and experience of the applicants which form the basis of the proposed project. Include relevant publications as hardcopy and pdf. 2.4 Work plan A detailed work plan including appropriate description of material, methods and experimental/study design, biometry and statistics. 3 2.5 Project timetable Provide a timetable defining tasks and – if possible - milestones and deliverables. 2.6 Significance of the expected results Describe the potential scientific significance of project for the research field as well as the practical/clinical application of the results. 2.7 References 3 Details of institutional resources dedicated to the project Define competencies, roles and capacities of institutional personnel that the applicant institution will dedicate to the project. Name and describe relevant scientific infrastructure available to the project. Define other institutional resources available to the project (consumables, investments or special equipment). 4 4.1 Details of costs and funding of project Total costs 4.2 Funding 4.2.1 Institutional funding dedicated to the project, 4.2.2 Funding awarded or requested from other sources (include copies of award letters), 4.2.3 Funding applied for from the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung. 4 4.3 Breakdown of funds applied for 4.3.1 Personnel costs Please specify the intended period of employment and the personnel full costs (e.g. civil service salary (TVöD or TVL) categories) including all social contributions etc. covered by the employer. Precise personnel cost data are essential for accurate calculation of project costs. Supplemental allowances such as those granted by the Civil Service will generally not be paid. 4.3.2 Technical equipment, instrumentation Technical equipment and instrumentation is generally regarded as part of the scientific infrastructure to be provided by the applicant institution and is therefore not eligible for funding. If specific equipment is necessary for the particular project, please explain and include cost estimates. For investments exceeding a value of 2,500.€, competitive cost estimates are necessary. If a piece of equipment costing more than 25,000.- € is required, estimates of alternative leasing or renting costs for the period the project should be included. Please list individual prices for each piece of equipment including valued added tax, transport costs etc. 4.3.3 Consumables The requirements of materials to be used up should be specified and listed including cost and quantity for each item. 4.4 Funding schedule showing the exact dates on which funding instalments are required To avoid losing interest revenue the Foundation does not transfer funds until the beginning of the month in which they are required. The funding schedule should therefore provide for requirements on a monthly basis. 5 4.5 Information on subsequent financing Give an outlook on the future continuation and funding of future steps or projects that may arise from the proposed project. 5 Declarations of cooperation partners, letters of recommendation 6 Approvals of ethic committees, animal protection or other legal requirements for the project 7 Signatures of the project leader and co-applicants
