I am honored to invite you to participate in our Career Awareness Day at Chester W. Nimitz Middle
School, to be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007.
Career Day is vitally important to our students who need to hear from successful role models from the
local and surrounding communities. Our goal is to provide our students with the information concerning
educational requirements and experiences that may be necessary in their pursuit of a career. We would
appreciate your efforts in connecting our students to the world of work and motivating them to stay in
school. Your participation will make a difference in a child’s life.
The students you will be addressing range in ages from eleven to fourteen years old, and are in the sixth,
seventh and eight grades. You will have twenty-five minutes to speak about your profession, why you
chose the profession and what motivated you to stay in school and continue with a college or vocational
education. I encourage you to tell students what your life was like at their age and what your thoughts were
about learning as a teenager. The enclosed study sheet is given to students to stimulate though and increase
their participation in your presentation. We hope it will assist you in planning your program.
All presenters will meet in the gymnasium at 8:30 a.m. for a brief reception and orientation. A student will
escort you to the first classroom on your individualized “Classroom Visitation Schedule.” The first
classroom visit end at 10:14 a.m. You will then proceed to your second scheduled classroom to speak with
a new group of students. At 11:00 a.m. Career Awareness Day will conclude in the gymnasium with an
evaluation, and acknowledgments.
Please reply by completing and returning the enclosed speaker participation form by June 1, 2007. The
form may be mailed to the above address; or faxed to Ms. Elisa Hernandez at (323) 773-5201. You may
also Email your confirmation to firstname.lastname@example.org. For your information all the forms are available on
our web page at www.nimitzms.org. If you have further questions regarding Career Awareness Day, please
contact Ms. Hernandez at (323) 887-5430.
I look forward to your positive response to our invitation. I can assure you that your participation will be
valued and that you will make a difference to our students in their search for their future career.
