PARENT MEETING
On May 20th we will have our final parent meeting. The occupational and physical therapists will provide you with fun sensory-motor activities to do with your child over the summer. Call Sue Klawon at MIPP Rockwell 586/268-3450 to register for the meeting.
OT TIPS
Now that the warmer weather has arrived, we can take advantage of the great outdoors. Playing in textures is usually messy and is easier to clean-up out in the yard. Here are some ideas to promote tolerance to touch and movement as well as eye-hand coordination: Water play: with a bucket/dish pan, have your child use a paint brush to “paint” the walk, fence. . . Use a sponge to help “wash” the toy car or wagon, or plastic baby doll. Have your child help you water plants. Sidewalk chalk: your child can draw on pavement and squirt bottles filled with water to target the chalk drawings

MIPP BUS RIDE
Wednesday , May 13th and Thursday, May 14st is our annual bus ride for students who will be transitioning to new programs next year. Both parent and child will have an opportunity to experience a “school bus” ride. The bus ride will last approximately 20 minutes around the neighborhood. The bus is equipped with seat belts. If you want your child in a car seat, please bring your own. Please sign-up for the bus ride in the office or call Sue Klawon at 586/268-3450 and enjoy the trip.
Sand/dirt: this is best for those kids who no longer put nonedibles into their mouths. They can scoop, dump, dig, carry, and draw using a stick. Walk on grass or sand: without shoes. Children love wagon rides, swing rides and slides too. Have a safe and fun filled summer!!
