SUMMARY: On April 5, 2006 at approximately 1545 hours police arrived at an alleyway located in behind the 7-Eleven at 1111 Millwoods Road to investigate a reported beating and stabbing that had just occurred outside of the store. Upon police arrival they were informed that an unidentified female had been taken to the Grey Nuns Hospital with what appeared to be life threatening stab wounds to her stomach. The female was later identified by police as GEORGE, Ashley (91May9). Another female who suffered a stab wound to her hand was still on the scene, but was later taken to the Grey Nuns Hospital. She was identified as SMITH, Danielle (90Jan20). Count #1, Count #2, Count #3 Police were able to determine through eye witness testimony provided by 7- Eleven cashier SAMUELS, John and video evidence from the parking lot cameras that a fight occurred behind the store at approximately 1530 hours. Several people were involved in the fight including the accused JONES, Sarah (91Oct27), and the two complainants, GEORGE, Ashley and SMITH, Danielle. Another female, later identified by the police through eyewitness testimony and video as being MARTIN, Samantha, was involved in the fight. MARTIN is observed shoving and striking SMITH. JONES and MARTIN were observed attacking SMITH together. GEORGE is also observed in the midst of the fight. Due to GEORGE’s critical condition police are unable to collect a statement from her and it is unclear what her involvement in the fight was. As MARTIN, SMITH, and GEORGE are fighting, JONES is observed as being in possession of a 5 inch screwdriver. During the course of the fight JONES is observed swinging and violently thrusting the screwdriver around towards GEORGE. It appears GEORGE is stabbed in the stomach. SMITH is also observed to be stabbed by JONES in the hand. In this part of the altercation, JONES is the only party observed with a weapon (screwdriver). GEORGE’s wounds were described as being a three inch stab wound to her abdomen. As stated, the injuries were life threatening and GEORGE underwent emergency surgery. While JONES was running out of the alley she was pursued by an unidentified male in possession of a switchblade. The unidentified male was present throughout the altercation and was observed running at JONES as she was exiting the alley. Police later identified this person as Robbins, Joe. Charges are pending. When interviewed on April 5, 2006, JONES admitted to police that she was involved in an incident earlier in the alley behind the 7-Eleven (1111 Millwoods Road location) that afternoon. JONES was arrested at her home, 5 Millwoods Way without incident. JONES was placed in Millwoods division holding cells where she was searched and provided an opportunity to contact a lawyer of legal aid. JONES was then held in cells without incident.
