At the end of the academic year residents have the option of completing a Standard Check-out or an Express Check-out. Review the Move-out section of the Web site to decide which option is best for you. We strongly encourage the first resident moving out to complete a Standard Check-out by making an appointment with their RA. As part of the check-out process, please complete the Check-out Survey. This is an anonymous survey. The purpose of this study is to help the Residential Education Office improve our programs and support services for future residents. Completing this survey is voluntary. Please note that if you choose not to participate in this survey it will in no way negatively affect your check-out process. The check-out survey takes about 15-25 minutes to complete, and you are requested to do it in one sitting. To access the survey, Visit http://www.sdsu.edu/housing/move-out.html for a link to the online check-out survey. This link will be available from now through late May Your License Agreement states that you are to move out by 8:00 p.m. on the day of your LAST final, or 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21st, whichever comes first. The only exception is for graduating seniors. Graduating seniors must contact their Hall Coordinator with proof of graduation status to arrange their check out date. How to make it a simple process: Before you check-out, you will need to have the following completed-1. Pack up all of your belongings and have them out of the room and out of the hallway. 2. Clean the room (some cleaning supplies are available at your hall front desk), including the windows, window sills, floor, drawers, shelves, closet, under the beds, furniture tops, microfridge/refrigerator. Debunk the beds and replace the end caps and feet, and empty the trash. 3. Remove all stickers from furniture, walls, doors, and windows. 4. Make sure all furniture is in the room and properly arranged/assembled, and that the pillow, bed pad, and blanket are present. What not to do: For a Standard Check-out you will not be checked out (and may have to complete an Express Check-out) if your belongings are not out of the room, you have not finished cleaning your room, or the furniture is not in its proper place. How to know when you are done: After your room has been checked, you must give your RA the exact keys that were issued to you and swipe card (when applicable). You will then sign an Intent to Vacate form, which will indicate your damage/missing item charges. Damage charges, if any, will be billed to your University student account and you will be notified through the e-Bill process. About damages: Damage charges, if any, will be billed to your University student account and you will be notified through the e-Bill process. Please note: anyone completing an Express Check-out waives their right to contest all damage and cleaning charges. IMPORTANT REMINDER: All first-class mail will be forwarded to the mailing address listed in your SDSU WebPortal (magazines will not be forwarded). As part of your move out process, please be sure this is updated with your summer address. Don’t forget to cancel newspaper/magazine subscriptions and update your address with any other mail you may receive at your residence hall address.

Save it & Give It Up!
As we approach move out and you prepare to leave the residence halls, join us for Give It Up! during move out. The Give It Up! program is recycling, donating, giving back to the community & helping our environment all in one. The San Diego Food Bank will have food barrels in the front desk area of your building to take your nonperishable, unopened food donations (canned goods, boxed foods, etc.) starting May 1st. The Disabled American Veterans group will also be accepting non-food donations (i.e. lamps, books, etc.) and will be placing collection bins outside of each hall on May 1st. In previous years we were able to contribute “6,000 lbs. of food to the Food Bank, providing nearly 3,500 meals. Also the Disabled American Veterans collected close to 14,000 pounds of clothing, shoes, bedding, small appliances, storage and beverage containers, computer monitors, printers and television sets in suitable condition for resale. At an estimate of two to five dollars an item, the SDSU community was able to contribute close to $50,000 dollars to support the DAV program. The Give It Up! program is a great way for the students and the university to give back to the community.

New Housing Option Available:
Gender Neutral Housing
A limited number of spaces will be available to returning students who seek a more independent style of living. Roommate pairings will not be based on gender identity, therefore gender-neutral housing allows roommate pairings regardless of the gender with which a student does or does not identify. Thus, residents of gender-neutral housing may request any roommate whosoever. For more information, please go to our website at: http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/ gender_neutral.html
Beat the Heat at the Pool
The weather is beautiful outside, have fun in the sun at the pool. Use one of the three swimming pools available for residents. One is located on the east side of campus between Maya and Tenochca Halls. It is surrounded by a grassy area, with a sand volleyball pit available for student use by LLC, Tenochca and Zura residents. The second pool is in the Cuicacalli complex for Cuicacalli residents. Both pools have tables, benches and a few BBQ grills. The third pool is located at University Towers and is open to UT, Aztec Corner and Chapultepec residents. You can enjoy the beautiful weather without having to drive anywhere.

Think Water Conservation We’d like to ask all SDSU residents to think water conservation when using water in any of the residence halls. Conservation is important for residents of the San Diego region because of our arid climate, potential for drought and limited local water sources. Here are a few things you can do to conserve water: - Turn off the water when you brush your teeth - Shorten your showers by one or two minutes. - Wash only full loads of laundry.
