 8.    Summary and Justification for Proposal:
       Business Management and Marketing faculties have discovered a need for our students to have specialized
       knowledge for opening and operating a Real Estate Brokerage firm that the Pre-brokerage diploma will address.
 9.    Program Description:
       The Pre-brokerage Management diploma is a series of Real Estate classes and specific general education classes
       that will prepare students to sit for the Real Estate broker’s license.

             1. RE 100 Real Estate Principles I
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:

 1.     Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles necessary to successfully
        practice the profession of Real Estate.
 2.     Demonstrate knowledge of the available areas of specialization of the Real
        Estate profession.
 3.     Demonstrate a basic understanding of Real Estate needed for successful
        completion of the Associate Degree Program.
 4.     Demonstrate knowledge of the Real Estate profession as required to pass the
        State Real Estate exam.
        RE 220 Brokerage Management
 Upon completion of the course, the student can:
 1.   Describe characteristics of the Real Estate brokerage business and the brokerage process.
 2.    Describe the legal environment of Real Estate which includes legal actions, license law, agency law,
 and general contract law.
 3.     Explain management functions and the needs of the Real Estate agent.
 4.     Differentiate between the broker/independent contractor relationship and the
 broker/employee relationship.
 5.     Describe the personnel selection process, recruitment and termination of the agent.
 6.     Describe the compensation for the Real Estate agent including commission sharing, incentive
 plans, company listings, and referrals.
 7.     Describe the working environment of the Real Estate office.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

1.      Demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of the Real Estate profession.

2.      Demonstrate an understanding of when it is advisable to seek legal help during
        the course of this business.
3.      Demonstrate knowledge of the legal rights and duties as distinguished from
