1. Company Overview

1.1 Business Overview
Lafarge S.A. (Lafarge) is a France-based company engaged in manufacturing and marketing
building materials. The company’s business divisions are are cement, aggregates and
concrete, gypsum and others. It is present in 76 countries.


1.2 Key Figures
The group recorded revenues of $25,925 million (€17,614 million) during the fiscal year
ended 31st December 2007 up from $22,308 million (€16,909 million) in fiscal year ended
31st December 2006. In terms of US dollars, this translates to an increase of 16.2 percent,
which is mainly attributed to exchange rate fluctuations. In terms of Euro, the increase in
revenue was 4.2 percent.
The net profit was $3,173 million (€2,156 million) in fiscal year 2007 up from $2,096 million
(€1,589 million) in fiscal year 2006, an increase of 51.4 percent in US dollars terms. In
terms of Euro, the increase in net profit was 35.7 percent.
The company’s total assets witnessed an increase to $41,665 million (€28,308 million) from
$39,369 million (€29,841 million).
Lafarge employed 77,721 people in 2007, down from 92,466 in 2006.
