OVERBROOK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH is a COMFORTABLE, WELCOMING PLACE
$221,160 will be used to repair and refinish sanctuary pews, provide pew cushions, upgrade the kitchen, repair doors and windows, refurbish steps, provide a walkway from the Chapel Entrance to the Sanctuary, repair fences, and repair and refinish the wood in the Sanctuary, lectern, pulpit and chancel walls. These and more improvements will represent our Church as the healthy, thriving place we know it to be.
FAITH in the FUTURE II
Ten years ago an architect’s assessment identified $3.5 million of restoration work needed over a 15 year period to assure the continued life of our building. Through a wonderful and unifying Faith in the Future capital campaign in 1999 - 2001 Overbrook Presbyterian Church surpassed its $725,000 goal, raising $868,000 to meet the most pressing needs at that time. As predicted in the original assessment, more restoration work remains. Today’s pressing needs require that we now undertake the next phase toward securing the future of the building we have inherited to maintain it for present and future generations. Overbrook Presbyterian Church has prayerfully begun a $1 million Faith in the Future II campaign to meet high priority building and functional needs. We rejoice in our progress toward this goal through gifts from a small group of advance donors. Their gifts and a grant from Partners for Sacred Places total $550,000. Faith in the Future II will support the shared values of our ministry.

OVERBROOK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH is a PLACE TO WORSHIP
Fulfilling our historic role as “the church at the crossroads”, we serve a diverse Christian community that seeks actively to love and serve God, each other, and the world. We come together through music and ministry every Sunday. $221,500 from the Faith in the Future II campaign will allow for organ restoration, chapel renovation, upgraded sanctuary lighting, and improving the public address system for the Chapel and Fellowship Hall.

ENSURING the QUALITY OF OUR PLAN
Professional help from architects, engineers, campaign counsel, and administrative support is necessary to make sure our plan is carried out at the necessary level of quality we all value. $153,290 is allocated for these services. Together we can ensure our building will continue to be a strong foundation for generations to come.

FROM the PASTOR
The old proverb says that we enjoy the shade of trees planted by others. I am mindful of that every day as I walk through our magnificent church building. Plaques on walls and windows remind me of past generations, who built and lovingly maintained this church. I am filled with gratitude for their faithfulness and generosity, in bequeathing this great gift to us. One hundred twenty years since the cornerstone was first laid, Overbrook Presbyterian Church is a growing, thriving community of faith. Within its walls, we lift up our hearts in worship, music, and prayer. Joys and sorrows are shared together. Children and youth are nurtured and cared for. Food is prepared to serve the hungry. Community organizations find a welcome gathering place. Far more than bricks and mortar, our building provides the shelter for all the vibrant ministries in which we are engaged. As we look toward the future, we have identified a number of areas in our building that require attention and crucial repairs. The projects described here that we are undertaking will enhance the safety and accessibility of our church. They will provide a more welcoming, more comfortable environment. And they will restore the beauty and reverence of our sacred space. I invite you to join with me in contributing to this important campaign. Together, we are building a strong future for Overbrook Presbyterian Church. We have inherited a great legacy from those who have gone before us. Faith in the Future II is our way of planting trees that will continue to provide shelter and nurture for generations to come.
