Superintendent of Schools
Bulletin #30 May 1, 2009
The Superintendent’s Bulletin is posted weekly on Fridays on our website. It provides timely, relevant information about meetings, professional development opportunities, curriculum and program development, grant awards, and school committee news. The bulletin is also the official vehicle for job postings. Please read the bulletin regularly and use it to inform colleagues of meetings and other school news. Dear Colleagues, Several weeks ago I wrote about visiting nearby places, and that doing so enlightened my appreciation for the richness of what is here, just around the corner. I invited you to share suggestions for all of us to consider visiting as well. In that spirit several of you have written about places that have been meaningful to you all the more because of the opportunity to visit again and again over time or to experience anew through the eyes of your children and friends. This list is a smattering of ideas. I hope we will all find time to create some new experiences around town, resisting segregation by geographic default. Minor league baseball (PawSox, Lowell Spinners) Fenway Park Little Compton, RI Borderland State Park, Sharon, Mansfield, and North Easton (hiking and biking) Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, Norfolk Blue Hills Reservation, Milton (hiking, playgrounds, ponds) UNH Dairy Barn, Durham NH The Shire, Franklin Indian Rock, Franklin (where King Philip War began) DeCordova Museum, Lincoln Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Harvard Yard, Cambridge JFK Library, Boston (a must-see for the beauty of the location and history)
