Academic Proposal Writing

							                             Writing Proposal
Purpose:
This assignment is intended to help you think about what you are writing and
why you are writing. If you cannot answer these questions thoroughly, you may
need to think about your topic in a new way or, if that strategy does not work, you
may need to choose another topic about which you feel more confident.

Instructions:
Answer the following questions based on the essay that you intend to write. You
are free to change your mind about your topic later. This proposal does not bind
you in any way.

You may answer each question individually or you may answer in paragraph
form.
   1.    What is your chosen subject?
   2.    Why are you interested in this topic? Do you have a personal or
         professional connection to the subject? State at least one reason for
         your choice of topic.
   3.    Is this a significant topic of interest to others? Why? Who specifically
         might find it interesting, informative, or entertaining?
   4.    In one or two sentences describe the major effect you’d like your essay
         to have on your readers.
   5.    What would you like for your readers to understand or “see” about your
         subject?
   6.    List at least three details that you think will help your audience
         understand your subject more clearly.
