CO-1695/7/8/9 is primarily composed of Cetyl alcohol (C16 95% min in the case of CO-1695); ‘n’ in the structural diagram above refers to the different carbon chain lengths present, from C14 up to C20. It is a waxy white solid under ambient conditions with a mild soapy odor.

Oil Derivation/Allergen/BSE/Microbial:
All of our fatty alcohol brands are produced in P&G Chemicals’ global fatty alcohol network. They are manufactured entirely from naturally occurring vegetable oils. • No preservatives or additives are present. • No gluten/wheat, corn, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish, sulfites, yeast, starch, MSG, peanut, other nut, rice, sugar, or sodium potential allergens are present. • Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) are not a concern with CO-1695, Cetyl Alcohol. • At the low vacuum (12-18 mmHg) and high temperature (up to 550 degF) at which our process operates, we do not believe that microbiological activities exist.

Shelf Life
In a controlled study, Procter & Gamble stored flaked Cetyl Alcohol NF and Stearyl Alcohol NF in bags and drums 3 years. The bags and drums were analyzed periodically, and at the end of the storage study. All intermediate and final samples maintained adherence to NF specifications. This validated P&G’s prior experience, which was that flaked cetyl and stearyl alcohol is stable under normal storage conditions for at least three years. No specific data has been collected for the shelf-life of opened containers of alcohol.

End-use applications for CO-1695 include alkyl amines, aluminum rolling lubricants, tertiary amines, antioxidants, concrete anti-spalling agents, cosmetics, defoamers, ethoxylates, halides/mercaptans, lubricant oil additives, methacrylates, phosphated alcohols, plasticizers, plastic lubricants/mold release, polymerization stabilizers, sulphation, sulfated ethoxylates, and epoxy resin diluent.
