• NBC Sports logo used since 1989. NBC Sports is the brand used for sports programming on NBC, responsible for the televising of many sports events on the network. Formerly "a service of NBC News," it broadcasts a diverse array of programs, including the Olympic Games (through 2012), the NFL, the NHL, Notre Dame Football, the PGA Tour, the first two events of American horse racing’s Triple Crown, the USGA Championships, Wimbledon, the French Open and the Dew Action Sports Tour. Other programming from outside producers is also presented on the network under the NBC Sports branding (such as coverage of the Ironman Triathalon). In 2008, NBC Universal rebranded the digital subchannel network World Championship Sports Network as Universal Sports after taking a controlling stake in the channel. Universal Sports mostly presents coverage of athletics events which are part of the Olympic Games.
