Lynn Shelton is an American director most famous for writing, directing, and producing the 2009 film Humpday. Shelton grew up in Seattle and graduated from Garfield High School in 1983.[1] After high school, Shelton attended Oberlin College, and then the University of Washington School of Drama. She attended the Master’s of Fine Arts program in Photography and Related Media at the School of Visual Arts. Her thesis advisor was Peggy Ahwesh.[2] Among the jobs she has held to support her film career, she has worked aboard a trawler in the Bering Sea.[3] She is renowned in the Seattle area as a mixologist of silly drinks.[4] Shelton’s most recent film, Humpday, premiered at Sundance, was acquired by Magnolia Pictures, and is being considered for selection to show at Cannes.[5]
