					      Childcare Voucher Schemes are a government led initiative designed to support
       working parents with their childcare costs.
      Childcare vouchers are an alternative method of payment for childcare.
      The vouchers you order can be used to pay for all types of registered or approved
       care. (Nurseries, Childminders, Out of School clubs & Approved Nannies)
      The vouchers are available in both paper & e-vouchers formats.

To check the effect, if any, that vouchers would have on your Tax Credit Award, try out the online
                              calculator by clicking on the following link:

You can register on a form, which alters the Terms & Conditions of your employment allowing
                     your employer to pay part of your salary in vouchers.
      Vouchers are sent to your home address or credited to your on-line account on payday.
  Childcare Vouchers cannot be backdated so start saving now by contacting us on 01872 35
 8622 for an Information Pack. All Applications forms need to be returned to the Childcare Co-
ordination Team by the end of the month for vouchers to be received on the following payday.

Please note that only staff paid by Cornwall NHS Payroll Services can join this Voucher Scheme.

Tax Credits - For information on Tax Credits and how you may be able to claim for increased

The following is an extract from the Inland Revenue’s website:

   ‘To help you when your costs rise by £10 or more for 4 weeks in a row we will increase your
   child care element from the first week of the change. So if your costs go up by £10 or more you
   can tell us straight away as long as you expect the increase to last for at least 4 weeks.’

Look Out for your Tax Credit Renewal Pack it will be coming through your door any time now and
make sure you are receiving the Tax Credits you are entitled to.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES - The Summer Holidays are not far away so we hope this edition of

and how to amuse the Children during the coming Half Term Break. The information

Kerrier District Council - Activities and Taster sessions for young people aged 8 and over that live
in Kerrier during most school holidays. Under 8’s can attend some activities if accompanied by an

Highway Farm – Are an outdoor activity centre based four Lanes, Redruth and run play
schemes during the school holidays for 4 – 8 year olds and 8 – 14 year olds. Highway Farm are
also running family activity days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April- October @ £10 per person
per activity and on Fathers day on 14th June. Archery and Kayak are charged at the same
price. They are offering an NHS staff discount of £1 off per person in each family booking on
production of a staff ID badge. Children must be 8yrs + and accompanied by an adult. Archery
held at Highway Farm Activity Centre, Four Lanes, Redruth. All equipment and instruction

SUMMER CAMPS FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS – HOME OR AWAY

Home - Super Camps - Offer Multi Activity Day Camps for Children aged 4 – 13.
The Prep School in Higher town; Truro is conveniently placed for the Royal Cornwall Hospital
and other staff working in the Truro and surrounding areas. Super Camps Truro run camps
during the Easter and Summer Holidays. Although Activities run from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily,
they also offer a Free Extended day from 8am to 6pm where the children will have free time
activities available. Leaflets and booking forms are available by contacting Super Camps on

obtain your £4 daily NHS discount, which cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

NEW - Super Camps will also be running at Penrice Community College, Charlestown Road, St
Austell, Cornwall, PL25 3NR during the School Summer Holidays.

AWAY - DOIT4REAL ARE RESIDENTIAL SUMMER CAMPS for 10 – 16 year olds through the
Youth Hostel Association Action Adventure. The 4-day/5 night Camps are running for 6 weeks
from the 20th July to 29th August 2008 at 27 centres throughout England & Wales. If you are
entitled to Child Tax Credit, you can apply for a concessionary £199 place per child. The full
price of a place at camp is £399 per child. The cost includes all activities, food, accommodation
and transport to and from designated pick-up points. Details of the locations are not yet available
but even if it is necessary for you to travel to a designated pick up point this may still be worth
considering, especially if you qualify for the concessionary rates. For more information please

AWAY -A T E SUPERWEEKS - As a non-commercial body, ATE (Active Training & Education)
takes groups of 30+ children (8-16 year olds, although not on the same camp) on 7 or 10-day
residential camps. Living away from home, in the care of trained and enthusiastic volunteers,
the children spend their days playing, having adventures and learning how fun it can be to spend
time with people they wouldn't have ordinarily met, away from TVs and computers, but in the
company of lots of other children and young adults. There are Super weeks running in 7 different
centres all over the UK this summer holiday and they include free, supervised travel from
