1. Ms. McInerney called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m.

2. Ms. McInerney added one agenda item under Reports.

3. Mr. Felton motioned to approve the General Session Minutes- August 18, 2006,
   pending Ms. McInerney contacting Ms. McKoin to clarify the Unfinished Business
   agenda item #4 Ms. Farrington seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously.


1. Ms. Ashman reported no change in the status of the proposed regulations.

2. The Board had discussion on an email correspondence from a licensee regarding
   modalities. Ms. Ashman will send a response to the licensee.

2a. The Board had discussion on an email correspondence regarding traction.
    Ms. Ashman will draft a letter to be reviewed by the Ms. Leimbach and
    Mr. Gerber before distributing.

                                        UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1. Ms. McInerney shared the draft slide presentation that she will be presenting at the
   National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Conference on
   September 30, 2006. The Board had discussion and made suggestions.

1a. Ms. McInerney led the discussion of email suggestions to send to NBCOT for their
    open panel dialogue on “What‟s In It For The Regulator.” The Board directed Ms.
    Ashman to send the topics of „trends‟ and „complaints‟ to the email address at

Ms. McInerney closed the General Session at 11:15 a.m. in order to open the Executive

Ms. McInerney reopened the General Session at 1:25 p.m.


1. Ms. Farrington reported that 34 applications were submitted for review; 27
   occupational therapists and 7 occupational therapy assistants. Ms. Leimbach
   motioned to approve the 34 licensure applications; Ms. Ford seconded the motion.
   The Board voted unanimously.

                                              NEW BUSINESS

1. Ms. Leimbach reported on the World Federation of Occupational Therapy
   Conference which she attended in Australia.

2. Ms. Leimbach reported on the increase in premiums for malpractice insurance. The
   Board had discussion. Ms. Ashman will contact the Health Claims Arbitration Board
   to obtain more information on data of claims against occupational therapists. The
   information obtained will be shared with the Board.


1. Ms. McInerney announced to save the date for the Board member training scheduled
   for November 20, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

2. Ms. McInerney announced that anyone interested might comment on the American
   Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Final Draft of OTD Standards.


Pursuant to the Maryland State Government Article, Section(a)(13), Annotated Code of
Maryland, Ms. McInerney adjourned the General Session Meeting at 2:25 p.m.
