• A Higher Institution of Learning in a Rural Area
• Resident Students, Part-time Students and Long
  Distance Student (Total of 1800 Students)
• Adopted an Open Source Policy operating Suse
  Linux both at the Back end and the Front end.

  Workshops, with emphasis on trickle down effect
  i.e training many as locally as possible with both
  Local and International Facilitators

  are selected on basis of the backlog
  experienced in the IT Human Resource

  The Nuffic IT Wireless project focuses on developing a
  Centre of excellence with focus on: - Development of a
  cost friendly rural wireless kit with UMU as a test bed.

  Science, EDS participating)

  -    IT Research Methodologies
• Institutional collaboration
• Selection of finalists as teaching/lecturing assistants
  mentored and trained through the Faculty of Education
  on delivery methods

  easy to manage in terms of training /

               Way forward
• Strengthening Inter institutional collaboration
• More need for tracer studies to give feedback to
  the demands of industry
• Positive Discrimination in remuneration of IT
  staff
• Strengthening and Supporting Research and
  Publication as an add-on to existing net carry
  home e.g I@Mak
