♦ 1999 – 2001: Associate- & Visiting Professor at the University of the Free State’s
Faculty of Economics and Management Science.
♦ 2002 -: UNISA’s Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL) as Snr Lecturer:
• Lecture International Business on the MBL and Executive Development programs.
• Doctoral research on “A social contract with management as the basis for a new MBA
for a new world order of inclusive globalisation”.
• An independent international business consultant.
• Mentor business executives – as individuals, or executive project teams.
Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, as a Fellow.
Engineering Council of South Africa, as a Professional Engineer.

SOME PREVIOUS DELIVERABLES:
♦ Responsible for the business development function of Billiton’s global nickel portfolio,
from a clean sheet of paper to the world’s fourth largest nickel producer within a
seven-year period. This fast-track global venture creation project was done at a
capital cost of $7/annual-lb nickel against a global industry benchmark of
$12/annual-lb nickel. Today, this enterprise is producing 220 000 tons nickel pa,
earning some $3 billion revenue pa for BHPBilliton.
♦ Co-researcher for a UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa) project
into funding options for Africa’s many undeveloped mineral projects.
♦ Developed a marketing strategy and network as well as the hands-on marketing of
gold mining technology (Biox) in Australia. Co-negotiator for the Biox License
Agreement with the Ashanti gold mine in Ghana.
♦ Executed detailed research into potential mining opportunities in Mainland China.
After pioneering business development initiatives, this work culminated into a
Representative Office in Beijing to secure a strategic foothold for Billiton plc.
♦ Assessed the impact of the royalty bill on the alluvial diamond industry for the South
African Diamond Producers Association.
♦ Various international business consulting assignments.
