TREATMENT OF CHILDHOOD & ADOLESCENT EATING DISORDERS
About the workshop Who should attend the workshop: CAMHS clinicians who have attended CAMHS Eating Disorders Module 1 training and/or have experience in assessment of eating disorders, and who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in the treatment of children and adolescents with eating disorders. Aim of the workshop: This treatment module course aims to build clinicians skill base in the treatment of young people with eating disorders and their carers and increase their understanding and confidence in the use of evidence based models, skills and tools. Topics covered include: • • • Reviewing and integrating assessment, formulation and treatment planning. Working with parents & families, particularly working with increasing food intake and re-feeding their child. Appropriate use of individual therapies in treatment and addressing motivation e.g. Motivational Interviewing, CBT for eating disorders cognitions, and other therapeutic approaches. The implementation of treatment for eating disorders in the public mental health system, including an overview of the role of Inpatient care (paediatric and psychiatric) and medication in treatment.

Training methods: Oral presentation, experiential activities, role plays, group discussions and DVD presentations.
