RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS: THERE ARE NO RESIDENCY REQUIRMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THIS EXAMINATION.
At present there is one vacancy at the Erie County Medical Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before June 10, 2009:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Nursing and; either:
A) One year experience as a Nurse Practitioner in any certified specialty area and five years of registered professional nursing experience
    in an intensive care setting, two years of which were in a burn treatment unit; or
B) Six months experience as a Nurse Practitioner in any certified specialty area and six years of registered professional nursing experience
    in an intensive care setting, two years of which were in a burn treatment unit.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State at the time of appointment; and
Possession of a NYS Department of Education certification to practice as a Nurse Practitioner that specifies specialty area of practice; and
Possession of a current Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Number issued by the US Department of Justice Drug
    Enforcement Administration at time of appointment.
NOTES: 1. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting the experience requirements. 2. Your degree
and/or college credit must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State
Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. If your degree and/or college credit was awarded by an educational
institution outside of the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. You can write to this
Department for a list of acceptable companies providing this service; you must pay the required evaluation fee.
          Notice to Candidates: Transcripts will now be accepted by the Department of Personnel ONLY at time of application.
                                   All subsequent transcripts must be submitted at time of interview.
DUTIES: A Nurse Practitioner – Burn Treatment manages the delivery of patient care in a burn treatment unit, including, but not limited
to patient assessment, care planning, health teaching, discharge planning and quality improvement activities; coordinates patient care
activities and nursing activities with those of other disciplines and departments; ensures admission, daily and transfer orders are completed
in a timely manner; revises orders as needed; completes patient history and physical; assesses and documents skin condition and orders
preventive and/or treatment measures as indicated; integrates and documents wound and skin integrity care needs into care plan for current
diagnosis and treatment; identifies and documents critical deviations in patient condition, initiates treatment orders and notifies physician;
ensures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, coordination of services and education; educates patients and caregivers
regarding wound and skin integrity care needs in order to facilitate recovery and discharge; provides input into the formulation of patient
care standards; provides educational experiences for clinical personnel in collaboration with Nursing Inservice Education Department;
develops programs to meet changes in nursing practice; develops and monitors unit budget; ensures compliance with policies and
procedures and standards of the Department of Nursing, ECMC Corporation, and accrediting agencies; participates in employee
development and performance appraisal; manages the staffing and scheduling of personnel; acts as a specialty consultant; coordinates
special projects and participates on committees, interdisciplinary care conferences and task forces as assigned; provides wound/burn care in
a clinic setting as assigned; provides education to community groups as requested; may be required to provide training or lectures at
universities or colleges, community groups and on-site mentorship to nursing students.

experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license. Specify the date that your license was first issued.
