TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR
{12 hr night shift} Starting Pay: $12.92 - $17.22/hr
The Public Works Commission (PWC) is seeking an individual to perform lab and maintenance functions in a wastewater treatment facility. Candidate will take water samples, conduct water analysis and perform testing; regulate/adjust pumps and valves; prepare and maintain detailed lab records and record data from meters/gauges; and identify chemical/biological/mechanical plant processes. Successful candidate must have working knowledge of chemical/biological principles related to wastewater treatment plant operations; be able to read and interpret drawings/blueprints; perform accurate mathematical computations; and perform routine lab testing.
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Graduate of an accredited two (2) year college with an Associate’s degree in Plumbing, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Engineering Technology or related field, and a minimum of one (1) year related experience; or B) Graduate of an accredited high school and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in collection system maintenance, laboratory analysis, operation of a wastewater treatment plant, or related field; or C) An equivalent combination of education, training and experience as described in A & B above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License at the time of selection into position 2) Must obtain and maintain a Grade II license for wastewater operations within 24 months of employment in the position.
