                                          Using Compass

1 Draw a circle with the following radius:

a) 2 cm b) 3 cm

2 Use your compass to mark off as many 3 cm segments as you can:

3 Which traveling distance is longer, from Takashi’s house to the City Hall or from
        Takashi’s house to the School?

Let's make some beautiful designs. Using your compass, make some designs on
the grid paper below.

                                        Drawing Triangles

1 Let’s think about how to draw an isosceles triangle with sides of 4 cm, 4 cm and 3 cm.

First, draw the 3 cm side.

2 Let’s draw the following triangles:
        a) an isosceles triangle with sides of 10 cm, 7 cm and 7 cm.
        b) an isosceles triangle with sides of 5 cm, 5 cm, and 6 cm.

3 Let’s think about how to draw an equilateral triangle with sides that are 5 cm each.

4 Let’s draw many triangles using radii of the circle shown below.

                                                           D

                                                                   C

                                                 A

3 The lines below are parallel to each other. Draw several line segments that are
perpendicular to both and measure their lengths.

                       Trapezoids, Parallelograms, and Rhombuses

1 Draw a trapezoid by drawing two parallel lines and 2 other lines.

                                       Exploring Diagonals

1 Let’s investigate the characteristics of diagonals in quadrilaterals!
        a. Compare the lengths of the two diagonals.
        b. Compare the lengths of the four line segments between the intersection of
the diagonals and the four vertices.
        c. Compare the angles formed by the two diagonals at the point of
             intersection.

                                       Congruent Triangles

Let’s draw B’C’ that is the same length as BC. Let’s think about different ways we can
        find point A’.
