   2137 – AS Degree is being modified so that graduating students may articulate into the Bachelor of
   Business Administration with a major in Financial Services with junior level standing at the University of
   North Florida as indicated in the articulation agreement between FCCJ and UNF.

   reasons leading to the development of this course/program?

One of the fastest growing industries in the United States is financial planning. Opportunities in financial services
are especially good, as Jacksonville is a hub of financial activity. Financial institutions such as banks, insurance
companies, credit unions, brokerage houses, investment advisors and financial planners are looking for qualified and
motivated degree students to enter their training programs. The AS degree is articulated with UNF.

6. Write a rationale/need for the above action(s). This response should address the following questions. Is there
   a need for this course/program in our service district? How will this impact student success for upper division
   instruction or job placement? If the College already has a similar course/program, why are we developing this
   program/course and what are the differences between the programs and courses? How many students and
   what businesses or transfer institutions will benefit? Does this course/program support a College goal or
   initiative?


This program supports the following College goals: (1) prepare students for distinctive success in the global
information age and (2) respond quickly and effectively to the human resource needs of employers. This degree
will help prepare students for entry and advancement to higher level jobs in the financial services field.

There will be no unusual or extraordinary financial impact to the students or FCCJ. Faculty salaries will conform to

    course/program as it benefits students and the college. This section is also concise but should address the

Associate in Science
The Financial Planning Associate program will enable you to embark upon a profitable and rewarding career in
financial services. One of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. is financial planning. This field is particularly
strong in Jacksonville where many large financial services companies are located. Banks, insurance companies,
credit unions, brokerage firms, investment advisors and financial planners are looking for qualified and motivated
degree students. You have three two options upon graduation from our program: seek employment as a paraplanner
or in another financial services capacity; pursue the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education
Program; or continue on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Financial Planning at the University of North Florida, which
accepts our program credits.
