It is now the primary MSA of the Indianapolis-Anderson-Columbus, IN Combined Statistical Area which also includes the Anderson, IN, MSA of Madison County, Indiana, the Columbus, IN, MSA of Bartholomew County, Indiana, and the Micropolitan Statistical Areas of Crawfordsville, IN (Montgomery County, Indiana), New Castle, IN (Henry County, Indiana), and North Vernon, IN (Jennings County, Indiana). The Indianapolis-Anderson-Columbus, IN Combined Statistical Area has a July 1, 2007, Census Bureau estimated population of 2,014,267. The Combined Statistical Area is the 28th largest metropolitan area in the U.S.
