INTRODUCTION
Francois and Wendy, owners of Arches House Guest House, are
committed to ensuring that all guests have an enjoyable and comfortable
stay. We cater for both Vegetarian and Vegan guests. We try to run the
guest house with ethical and environmental issues in mind. We have a
strict non-smoking policy throughout all areas of the guest house.

PRE ARRIVAL
* Reservations can be made by telephone, e-mail and letter.
* We have a web site and WiFi accessibility is provided free of charge.
* Information about public transport, taxis, routes and accessibility is
available.
* Distance to the city centre and nearest car parking is given.
* Nearest shopping centre, restaurants and universities are outlined.
* Details of ground floor bedrooms and suitability for guests with
mobility impairment given.

ARRIVAL, CAR PARKING FACILITIES
We are situated 100 yards from the A38 Gloucester Cheltenham Road.
The guest house has no dedicated car park. However, there is a lay by
opposite the guest house which allows parking for one hour between 8.00
-18.00 hrs Monday to Saturday. Outside these time frames, parking for
longer periods i.e. all day on Sunday and overnight on weekdays, is freely
available. Nearby roads are also available for free unrestricted parking.

There is a doorbell situated at the top of the entrance steps, on the right
hand side. The Telephone number and room prices are displayed upon the
window of the front door. There is lighting over the front door area. Upon
arrival, guests are given a numbered door code in order that they may
enter and leave freely.
There are a total of five steps leading from the road, to an ascending front
path. A hand rail is in place. A further two steps lead to the front door.

MAIN ENTRANCE and RECEPTION
Once through the front door, there is a small ante room with a glazed door
leading to the hallway. There is adequate lighting both in the hallway
and on the stairs. We can provide assistance to our guests. There is a
Public Telephone in the hallway where pen and paper are available.
We do not have restricted opening hours, guests are issued with the
outside door code and their room key upon arrival. The doorbell is
disabled at 10pm so that guests are not disturbed. We ask guests to be
considerate for others during their stay with us, both in the communal
areas and in their own room.

The reception/office, opens into the hallway via a hatch window. There
are two bells situated on the left hand side of the desk. These are used for
emergencies and enquiries and one for use as the night bell. The floor
area throughout the entrance hall and reception area, is level and as in all
public areas, are carpeted throughout.

There are two en-suite guest rooms situated on the ground floor. The
breakfast room and separate public toilet and shower, are also situated on
the ground floor. There is another door which leads off from the reception
and hallway. This door is marked private and leads to the kitchen, laundry
room and private bungalow. The house is on two levels. The bedrooms
are situated both on the ground and first floor.

PUBLIC WC/SHOWER ROOMS
One public toilet and shower room is situated on the ground floor whilst a
separate WC and second Shower room with WC are situated on the first
floor. All floors are carpeted and the public WC and shower facilities
are unisex. The approximate size of the ground floor shower room and
WC is 8 ft x 5 ft . Whilst the upper WC and shower room is 9 ft x 4 ft.
The separate WC is 4 ft x 3 ft.

BREAKFAST/DINING ROOM
Breakfast is served in the dining room which is located on the ground
floor. There are no steps leading into the dining room. The furniture
consists of two 4 seater tables and three 2 seater tables. These can sit 14
persons comfortably. There is also a glass fronted cabinet and dresser. All
dining tables and chairs are of the same design and can be moved to
accommodate larger parties. Details regarding breakfast times is given
to guests upon arrival. We serve continental breakfast catering for
Vegetarians and Vegans alike. Any allergies or special dietary
requirements are ascertained upon arrival or during the booking of the
accommodation. Menus are provided on each table. We do not play
background music in any areas of the hotel. The dining room is fully
carpeted and measures approximately 15 ft x 12 ft.
BEDROOMS
We have two en-suite bedrooms with shower and WC situated on the
ground floor. One is a twin room whilst the other is a family room which
has a single and double bed. There are a further seven bedrooms on the
first floor two of which are en - suite. The rooms consist of three single,
two double and two family rooms. Of these, one family room and one
double room are en - suite. All rooms have wash basins providing hot
and cold water . Each room is provided with a digital television,
hospitality tray, with electric kettle and a hair dryer. The rooms are
carpeted throughout and are furnished with beds, wardrobes, drawers
and side lockers / tables . The lighting is provided by overhead bed
lights and one ceiling light.
Access to the first floor is via the staircase which is divided into a 10
step and then 7 step flights.
An information folder can be found in each bedroom. The entrance to
each and every bedroom is level ( no steps or ramps). The rooms are
serviced daily by our staff. All bedding, i.e. Duvets and Pillows are
feather free. All bedrooms are non - smoking areas as is the rest of the
house.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
* Evacuation procedures, in case of fire, are provided in each room

*The Guest House operates a complete NO - SMOKING POLICY.

*You are welcome to store any medication or special dietary foods in our
fridge providing the box is secure and clearly labelled.

*WiFi connection is provided free of charge. Please ask for access
password at reception.

*Local restaurants are plentiful and are within 2 to 5 minutes walk. The
city centre is ½ mile distant.

*Links to the M4 , M5 and M32 are within easy reach. The M4 and M5
junctions 20 and 15 respectively are situated 6 miles North, whilst the
M32 junction 3 lies ½ mile East.

*RAILWAY Bristol Temple Mead station is situated 1 ½ South East.
Parkway Station lies 1 mile North East.

*BUSES Bus stops to the City Centre, Bristol University and The
University of the West of England are all within 5 minutes walk.

*AIR Bristol Air Port is situated 8 miles south of the City Centre.

*TAXI local Taxi offices are all situated nearby.

*We run the Guest House with environmental and ethical principals in
mind and use Fair Trade and Recycled products whenever possible.
