  – Eugenics = The science of improving the human
    population by controlled breeding to increase the
    occurrence of desirable characteristics.

      inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to

• Hooking up
  – First surfaced as a sexual concept in porn magazines in
    the 90s.
     • Within years this concept became accepted on college campuses
     • “Everyone here seems intent on hooking up as fast as possible.”
       - Columbia University student told NPR in „96
     • “In a normal relationship, you meet, get drunk, and hook up.” -
       Brown University student told New York Times in „97

• Duke Research Project: 2002-2003
  – “Students rarely go on formal dates, but instead attend
    parties in large groups, followed by „hook-ups‟ -
    unplanned sexual encounters fueled by alcohol.”
                        Unhooked
• Elizabeth Paul: Prof at College of New Jersey
  – Surveyed 555 undergrads.
     • 4 out of 5 had hooked up (80%)
     • 1/2 said they started their evenings planning to have some form of
       sex, but with no particular person in mind.
  – James Madison University reported similar proportions
  – University of Wisconsin reported slightly less

• Center for Disease Control study on High
  School sexual activity (2005)
  – Percentage of high school students having sex is declining
     • Percentage having oral sex is skyrocketing
  – Intimacy
     • Students think holding hands is more intimate than having oral sex
       because holding hands denotes a relationship.
  – Fallacies students believe
     • You are still a virgin if you have oral sex.
     • There is no hurt to the soul if you have oral sex.
     • There is no way to transmit sexual diseases in oral sex.

• National Center for Health Statistics
  – More than 50% of American teenagers ages 15-17 have
    engaged in oral sex.
  – 70% of 18-19 year-olds have had oral sex.
  – 1 in 4 teenagers who claim to be virgins have had oral sex.
• Study at University of Kansas in 2005
  – 1 in 4 women will experience date rape in college.

    1. Irresponsibility will be rewarded
        •   “It will lead to conjugal infidelity and the general lowering of morality.”
    2. Loss of respect for women
       • “The man will lose respect for the woman and no longer (care) for her
          physical and psychological equilibrium and will come to the point of
          considering her as a mere instrument of selfish enjoyment and no longer
          as his respected and beloved companion.”
    3. Abuse of power
       • “It will be used as a dangerous weapon in the hands of those public
          authorities who take no heed of moral exigencies.”
    4. Misuse of the body
       • “It will lead man to think that he has unlimited dominion over his own
          body.”

     • 37% of US births
  – Kids living with less than two parents
     • 57% of US kids
• USCCB.org/laity/marriage
  – Approximately 50% of marriages end in divorce.
  – Approximately 50% of marriages are a remarriage
    for at least one of the partners.
               What we want:
• Women
  – A forever relationship: Love
    • Self-worth
    • Despair / Settling
    • A woman will use sex to get love (forever relationship)
• Men
  – Achievement
    • To be part of something greater than themselves.
    • Pursue and conquer
    • A man will use love to get sex (achievement)
               What we want:
