					NASCAR PERFORMANCE DIVERSITY INITIATIVE
TUITION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Information Sheet

Objective: In an effort to further its Diversity Initiative, NASCAR is sponsoring a scholarship program for incoming students exclusively at the NASCAR Tech campus. Students who feel they can create positive change in the racing industry through advancement of diversity initiatives are encouraged to apply. Criteria for awarding the scholarship: Enrolled students who meet all other admissions requirements for the NASCAR Technical Institute programs and ALL the criteria below may apply for a $3500 grant-in-aid (awarded as a tuition reduction, prorated over the entire term of the student’s program). One student will be chosen to receive this tuition scholarship for each start date in the funded period. To be eligible, a student must: 1. Have a completed and approved Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate year. (For questions on the completion or approval of your FAFSA, call the NTI Financial Aid Department at 1-888-416-2722.) 2. Be enrolled to begin courses during one of the start dates between November 19th, 2007 and September 30th, 2008. 3. Clearly express how s/he will contribute to the furthering of diversity and how this will benefit racing, and 4. Submits the application by the deadline date* listed below.
Process and Rules: The process for applying for this tuition scholarship will be published to all enrolling students as a catalog supplement and on the UTI website. Students who have already enrolled for these start dates will be notified via a separate mailing. Any student meeting the criteria may apply. Students will complete an application including essay, and submit it to the Scholarship Office. Students who apply and meet all requirements will be considered for this grant-in-aid. Determinations of who will receive the award will be based on a primary review of all applications received prior to the deadline. Of those applications received, each will be reviewed for completeness and veracity of all information provided. Of those viable applications, the awards will be distributed to those students who present the greatest commitment to diversity through the ideas expressed in the essay portion of the application. All viable applications will be reviewed by the UTI Scholarship Committee. Applicants will be notified via U.S. mail after deadline date. If a student changes start dates, a NEW essay must be re-submitted. It is not transferable to any other start date or person. Once lost due to postponement of start a student would have to complete a new application and submit it at least five weeks prior to the new start. It is not a cash award, but a tuition reduction that is spread out over the term of the program. NASCAR Technical Institute does not discriminate against or tolerate the harassment of any potential applicant, applicant or student on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, age, or any other legally protected status in the provision of its courses, programs, services or activities. Admissions representatives may not provide anything more than general information about scholarships, but must refer them to the Scholarship Office or the UTI website for application and verification. Scholarships shall not be used as a recruiting device. Application Deadline Information: By FAX: must be received no later than 4 weeks prior to start date.
