within a 100 mile (160 km) radius according to the USGS; the distance of both of those cities from the epicenter support the theory.[3] The Newport-Inglewood Fault runs through the area, but it is currently unclear whether the quake occurred on that fault.
Impact
Later damage reports included those of moviegoers reporting falling roof tiles at the South Bay Galleria in nearby Redondo Beach. Windows were shattered at a Starbucks coffeehouse at the same intersection and a light pole at the corner of Chadron Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood was in danger of falling.

Aftershocks
A magnitude 2.5 aftershock occurred five minutes after the initial quake, and a magnitude 3.1 aftershock occurred six minutes after the initial temblor. At least 19 aftershocks occurred within 12 hours of the initial quake. The largest aftershock was a magnitude 4.0 earthquake, which also occurred in the same area on May 19, 2009 at 3:49:11 pm PDT (22:49:11 UTC), with its epicenter located in northeast Hawthorne.[4] The earthquake affected mostly in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
The 2009 Inglewood earthquake occurred on May 17, 2009 at 8:39:36 pm PDT (May 18, 2009 at 3:39:36 UTC), in Southern California.[1] The earthquake was originally listed as a magnitude 5.0 but it was later downgraded to a magnitude 4.7. As of 1400 UTC, no reports of serious damage or injury were made.

Location
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the city of Inglewood immediately west of the Morningside High School campus and approximately ten miles (16 km) southwest of downtown Los Angeles at a depth of 13.5 km. The shaking was felt as far away as San Diego and Palm Springs and was likely felt
