Sicopal Blue K 6210
1345-16-0 310-193-6 cobalt blue, CoAl2O4 Pigment Blue 28 / 77346 Sicopal® Blue K 6210 is a spinel pigment based on cobalt[II] and aluminum oxides. It is practically insoluble; the heavy metal oxides are firmly incorporated into the spinel lattice whereby they lose their chemical, physical and physiological properties. In animal studies, cobalt blue pigments did not display acute toxicity. No acute irritant effect was shown in tests to determine the acute irritation of skin and mucous membranes. In studies on rats to determine the carcinogenic potential, no statistically significant results were found. Soluble cobalt compounds as well as cobalt metal may have a sensitizing effect. However, none have been reported during our experience of many years of handling cobalt blue pigments. Since Sicopal® Blue K 6210 is inert and practically insoluble in water, it does not pose a hazard to the environment. The pigment can be removed mechanically from effluents. On controlled dumpsites, no dissolved heavy metals are released into the seepage water. During incineration of articles colored with it, Sicopal® Blue K 6210 is recovered in its original form from the residual ash. no hazard to waters (VwVwS of July 27, 2005, annex 1) (Germany) Labeling according to the German Ordinance on dangerous substances or corresponding EU directives: no labeling required

not hazardous under transport regulation No compounds of lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium or mercury have intentionally been added to Sicopal® Blue K 6210. Analyses of representative standard samples have shown that the sum of the total content of these elements is less than 100 mg/kg and thus below the limits laid down in the EU packaging directive 94/62/EC and the American CONEG model. The requirements of the EU directive on electronic devices, 2002/95/EC, and the EU directive on end-of-life vehicles, 2000/53/EC, are met. On average,
