Dear Prospective Member,

Thank you for your interest in the Richmond Apartment Owners Association! Let me tell
you a little about our Association.

The Richmond Apartment Owners Association (RAOA) was founded in the mid 1990’s
by a small group of apartment owners, investors and managers looking for a forum for
networking, education and input with the local politicians on clarification and changes of
the current laws. What has evolved is over 100 people, companies and affiliates of the
apartment industry making a difference in the Greater Richmond Area.

RAOA meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at noon for our General Membership
meeting. Lunch is served and we are given information from one of a variety of speakers
the Vice President of RAOA provides. Our past speakers have included the Mayor of
Richmond, nationally renowned Mr. Landlord, the Director of Housing Opportunities
Made Equal, the Superintendent of Building Codes, several tax attorneys, financial
planners, building safety and security experts, attorneys specializing in the Virginia
Landlord and Tenant Act and many, many more.

The 1st Tuesday of each month at noon the RAOA Book Club meets. They read and
discuss various books related to the apartment industry from management and
maintenance to tax and investment strategies.

The 3rd Tuesday of each month at noon many of our members meet for the monthly
Think Tank. This is a casual setting where ideas, policies and procedures relating to the
apartment industry are exchanged. There are always interesting and timely topics at the
Think Tank meetings!

In addition to our monthly meetings, RAOA hosts seminars on such subjects as Fair
Housing, The Virginia Landlord Tenant Law and computer programs geared towards the
apartment industry.

As you can see, the Richmond Apartment Owners Association has something to offer
everyone! A monthly post card is mailed to each member to inform them of what the
topic of all of our monthly meetings will be. Members also receive a quarterly newsletter
with updates on the Virginia Landlord and Tenant laws, educational information and
many other informative articles relating to our industry.

RAOA offers two types of memberships. The regular membership is for owners,
managers and/or investors in the rental housing industry. Our associate membership is
for products and service companies who serve the apartment industry in their daily
business. Both types of membership enjoy all the benefits our Association provides.
We have enclosed a copy of our dues schedule and two applications; one application is
for regular membership and one is for associate membership. Please fill one of the
applications out completely and return it with the appropriate amount of dues and mail it
to our post office box. If you do not have a sponsoring member one will be assigned to
you. Your application will be processed and a member of our membership committee
will contact you.
