T here will probably be different recommendations for different groups of schools.
                                                                                                                                                       After 23 years as a single site operation in Boston, ACCESS recently opened a new office in Springfield, Massachusetts and is exploring plans to continue to expand regionally. The organization's very recent and expected future "growth with quality" efforts have highlighted some critical needs that require thoughtful and thorough attention this summer. ForTexample,not been discussed yet in detail (it will be tomorrow), but basically I will create a model/recommendationonehow the team should be spending their time in order to bemanagement tools, templates, and systems that will ensure the successful replication of programs and outcomes across multiple sites. In addition, ACCESS needs to research the potential for growth to new markets based on parameters set forth by the Board/Staff Growth Committee (work in progress, expected to wrap up in May 2010). The Fellow will be a key leader in both of these separate but related projects, helping to lay the foundation for ACCESS's growth with quality in 2011 and beyond.

All Race to the T op funds must be obligated by September 30, 2010, so this summer is a particularly important time for the program, and an incredible opportunity for an intern to both learn and contribute. By the end of the summer, Jane will have contributed to deepening the understanding of the past competition, implementation of the current competitions and obligation of approximately $3.4 billion to state grantees, and to the shaping of policies for future efforts.
