America's First Federal Credit Union and partners collect over 2 tons of
food for local food bank

During the month of June, America's First Federal Credit Union and NBC-13, as part
of their Making A Difference Campaign, partnered with Western Supermarkets for a
Can-A-Thon benefiting the United Way Community Food Bank.

Western Supermarkets sold pre-made bags of the food bank’s most needed items for
only $5. Collection barrels were located at each of America’s First’s 17 branches, and
the response was overwhelming from members and the community. “We were greatly
surprised and excited to ask the United Way Community Food Bank to schedule a
pick-up at several of our branches during the second week of the month because the
barrels were overflowing with donations!” Chance Hallmark, America’s First AVP
Business Development explains. By the end of June over two tons of food had been
collected.

Larry Logan, Director of the United Way Community Food Bank states, “This has been
a really desperate time for the food bank with extreme food shortage. Without the
support of local businesses such as America’s First, NBC-13, and Western
Supermarkets we would not be able to reach our goals. I would like to add a sincere
“Thank you” to their employees, members and viewers who helped make this Can-A-
Thon so successful.”

America’s First Federal Credit Union is a community-chartered credit union open to all
persons who live, work, worship or attend school in Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Jefferson,
Shelby, St. Clair, Walker and Calhoun counties, as well as parts of Mobile and
Talladega Counties. Founded in 1936, the credit union boasts over $950 Million in
assets and serves a membership of over 100,000 through 18 branch locations.
