                                 Scholarship/Stipend Information

 Stipends are awarded on a semester basis. Stipend awards are contingent upon the officers, senators,
 committee chairs, and student justices fulfilling their requirements and participating fully as a SGA member.
 Stipend awards will begin processing on the last day of the semester. SGA members are only awarded their
 stipend when enrolled in classes and if they continue to meet the membership qualifications.

                            Qualifications/Requirements of Student
                              Government Officers and Senators
 Attend all regularly scheduled SGA Senate Meetings each FRIDAY AT 1:00PM
 Attend and assist at SGA sponsored activities
 Participate in college and campus leadership programs
 Complete a minimum of three (3) office hours a week for senators, and five (5) for executive
  officers
 Serve on various SGA committees (both standing and special)
 Meet position responsibilities outlined in the SGA Constitution
 Specifics detailed in officer job descriptions. (see below)

                               Qualifications for SGA Officers
              President  Vice-President  Secretary  Treasurer
   Candidates must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the time of the
    election
   Officers must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA while in office
   Candidates for executive office must be currently enrolled at Georgia Perimeter College and have
    paid fees to support the student activity program at the college
   Candidates for executive office must have accumulated at least sixteen (16) semester hours at
    Georgia Perimeter College
   Candidates must be enrolled at the campus at which the office is held for the duration of the term
    of office. Exceptions may be approved by the Director of Student Life.
   Candidates must show evidence that they will complete the term of office by signing a Candidate’s
    Agreement to that effect

                      Qualifications for Senators & Committee Chairs
 Candidates must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA at the time of election/appointment
 Senators/Chairs must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA thereafter
 Candidates must show evidence that they will complete the term of office by signing a Candidate’s
  Agreement to that effect
 Candidates must be currently enrolled at Georgia Perimeter College and have paid fees to support
  the student activity program
 Candidates must be enrolled at the campus at which the office is held for the duration of the term
  of office. Exceptions may be approved by the Director of Student Life.

                                   Candidate Requirements
 All candidates must submit a petition with twenty-five (25) signatures of currently enrolled
  students and completed application and signed agreement to the Student Life Office by the
  deadline. Each candidate must also include with his/her application a typed statement of
  campaign intention (this should be a summary of your qualifications and intentions if elected to
  the position being sought).

                                         SGA ELECTION GUIDELINES
                         FOR SGA PRESIDENT, VP, SECRETARY, TRESURER AND SENATORS ONLY.
Voting ONLY occurs for SGA, President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer and Senators. All other positions are based on Interview and
Appointment.


   Attendance at one of the two scheduled Candidate’s Meeting(s) is mandatory for all applicants.

   Candidates must submit an official petition containing the signatures and student identification numbers of twenty-five
    (25) currently enrolled Georgia Perimeter College students before the deadline established and advertised.

   The Director of Student Life verifies each candidate. The SGA Secretary records verification. The SGA Secretary and the
    Director of Student Life will have a copy of the Petition for Nomination from each applicant.

   It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to know the guidelines of the campaign and all deadlines associated with it.
    Candidates will be responsible for ensuring that their supporters follow the guidelines set forth in this election.

   Campaign materials may be posted beginning Friday September 10 , 2010.

   Posters may be placed for public view the first day of campaigning, after completed applications are received and verified
    by the Director of Student Life.

   Posters, flyers and banners are to be placed in areas designated by the Office of Student Life. Posters can be no larger
    than 24”x12”. No more than two (1) poster can be posted per bulletin board. Banners may be used, but cannot exceed
    four (4) 8 ½” x 11” pages. No more than two (2) banners can be posted. All publicity must be approved by the Office of
    Student Life.

   These items cannot be placed on doors, glass, wood or painted surfaces. Campaign materials are to be placed only on
    bulletin boards and other approved surfaces designated by the Office of Student Life. Information placed on any other
    surface other than these will be removed by the SGA Secretary or designee. PLEASE DO NOT USE MASKING TAPE.

   Candidates or their representatives may NOT remove campaign materials or any other candidate for office.

   Campaigning must not interfere with normal school procedures.

   “Mudslinging” is a poor campaign technique and will not be tolerated under my circumstances.

   Students will be allowed to vote online September 22 -23, 2010 from 8:00am – 8:00pm.

   Candidates must be twenty (20) feet away from the voting booth while the election is in progress.

   There will be no campaigning once voting commences.

   Upon the conclusion of the SGA elections, ballots will be destroyed fourteen (14) days after the posting of winners.
    Appeals must be submitted in writing to the SGA Secretary and the Office of Student Life within three (3) business days.
    THE ELECTION COMMITTEE WILL NOT HONOR ANYAPPEAL MADE AFTER ONE WEEK

   Any violation of such policies will result in the candidate being removed from the ballot. All infractions should be
    submitted to the Secretary and SGA Advisor in writing immediately. The candidate may appeal the infraction.

                   FOR SGA PRESIDENT, VP, SECRETARY, TRESURER AND SENATORS ONLY.

1.      No candidate may begin campaigning until an application is submitted and verified for eligibility by the
        Student Life Office.
2.      Candidates may promote their candidacy by distributing directly to students handbills, buttons, business
        cards, or through other creative means that are appropriate for a community environment. Please
        consult with the Director of Student Life about any questionable or unusual marketing techniques.
3.      Candidates may design a campaign flyer not to exceed 8 ½ x 11 and submit it to the Student Life Office
        for approval and prior to posting.
4.      No materials may be placed on vehicles or on the exterior of any buildings.
5.      All campaigning must cease at 12:00 am the morning of the SGA the day of elections.
6.      Candidates, or others acting on behalf of candidates, may not interfere or otherwise inhibit the campaign
        of other candidates.
7.      Campaigning may not interfere with the normal operations of the campus, therefore campaigning during
        classes is not appropriate.
8.      Negative campaigning or “mudslinging” is not appropriate. Issues may be discussed candidly, but
        personal attacks of candidates are not tolerated. Be mindful of your potential liability in making
        statements that may not be able to be fully supported with factual evidence.
9.      Candidates are responsible for the repercussions of all actions made on behalf of their candidacy by
        others.
10.     Any complaint of the election process must be submitted in writing to the Director of Student Life within
        three (3) business days after 8:00pm on the second day of elections.
11.     Failure to comply with these regulations may result in candidate dismissal or removal from the elections
        process.

                                   SECRETARY JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Qualifications:
 Must be a currently enrolled student at GPC
 Must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
 Must have accumulated 16 credit hours at GPC

General Duties
 Serve as a voting member of the SGA.
 Represent the Student Body at large.
 Serve as an active liaison between the student body and the administration.
 Become knowledgeable about the SGA Constitution, campus resources and their locations, and college-wide policies.
 Serve as a good resource for the student body by remaining knowledgeable SGA Events
 Actively participate in the establishment of SGA goals and in the planning and implementing of plans in support of the
   goals.
 Be prepared to assist the college as an official college representative when called upon to do so.
 Coordinate SGA elections and petitions.

Specific Duties
 Attend all SGA functions held for Georgia Perimeter College.
 Meet all qualifications for Secretary as specified in the SGA constitution.
 Attend budget meetings as scheduled by SGA.
 Attend all SGA/Executive board meetings
 Attend all mandatory training events per semester (campus-based and college-wide) as scheduled by SGA and/or Office
    of Student Life.
 Work a minimum of 3 office hours per week in the SGA office during each semester.
 Uphold the constitution and all ordinances of the SGA.
 Consult with the SGA advisor to ascertain Senate members' continued eligibility concerning GPA and other continuing
    qualifications at the end of each semester.
 Ensure that all legislative matters be delivered to the Senate in the most expedient manner.
 Preside over Senate meetings during the absence of the President and the Vice President.
 Process all student elections and petitions.
 Maintain a record of all resolutions and the vote in book form to be available to all SGA members.
 Record the minutes of all SGA meetings.
 Distribute copies of the minutes of all SGA meetings to the Director of Student Life, Dean of Student Services, Campus
    Administrative Dean and the SGA Presidents of all the other campuses.
 Post approved and/or unapproved copies of the minutes in the bulletin board on the Student Center or other designated
    location.
