Mark Papermaster is the Senior Vice President of Devices Hardware Engineering at Apple Inc.. He replaced Tony Fadell who was responsible for the team that created the iPod. Papermaster worked at IBM from 1982-2008. His last position at IBM was as vice president of IBM’s blade server division. dsbhd In 2008 his move from IBM to Apple Inc. was challenged in court as a violation of his non-compete clause that he signed in 2006.[1][2] Papermaster has filed a countersuit against IBM. Judge Kenneth Karas ruled that IBM must pay a $3,000,000 bond to Papermaster for any costs or damages that Papermaster might incur, meanwhile still unable to work at Apple.[3] It was announced on January 27, 2009 that Papermaster’s lawsuit with IBM had been settled, and that he’d take over Senior Vice President of Devices Hardware Engineering at the company on April 24th, 2009, replacing the "father of iPod" Tony Fadell, who stepped down a couple of months earlier.[4] Papermaster will make two scheduled court certifications—once in July 2009 and another in October 2009—to testify that he’s keeping IBM’s trade secrets to himself.
