From your Honorary Mayor
by Elayne Bassinger • Honorary Mayor of Wesley Chapel
HONORARY MAYOR CANDIDATES NEEDED!
It's time to think about throwing your hat into the ring and becoming the next Honorary Mayor of Wesley Chapel!!
This is a marvelous opportunity to do something for your Chamber and community that will bring loads of fun and
recognition your way as well as to your business. The “campaign season” kicks off at the March mixer and runs through July 10th.
The winner will be determined by the largest number of votes (dollars) turned in by July 10th, 2009. Enlist your friends and come up with creative
ways to raise funds during the “campaign” period. The announcement of the winner will be made at the July mixer.
The time commitment is not too demanding and the contacts you'll make are invaluable. If you are interested in being considered as a candidate this
year please contact the Chamber office at 994-8534.
I am looking forward to an exciting campaign this year.

This month's President's article is being written for you from Nashville, Tennessee. Over the past few years I have traveled
over the seas to exotic places like Mexico, Argentina, Greece and the Dominican Republic. I have always been excited to
learn about the people, their culture and how their spend their days.
Imagine my surprise when I have felt the same way about Nashville! I have spent the past 5 days walking Music Row and

here, to imagine these places when Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash sat in
the same rooms I am now visiting. Nashville has a culture all its own.
However, what I have enjoyed most of all is listening to the "wanna be's" voices as they spill out of
all the clubs along Music Row. They are singing their hearts out, hoping someone will hear them Board of Directors . . . . . . . . . . . . 2

- Henry David Thoreau
That is one of my favorite quotes. The concept is simple and complex at the
same time. Most people find it hard to imagine any reality other than the
one they are presently living. Einstein said "Imagination is everything. It is
the preview of life's coming attraction". So what do you see in store for your
business in 2009?
I see the most prosperous year ever! Inherent in every crisis is the seed of an
opportunity. What is your plan to take advantage of the opportunities all
around? Don't have one . . . get one. A simple thing I've found to be most
effective is to expect success. Expect to make that sale, expect to sell that
house, and expect to land the million dollar account. Most successful
business owners can tell you about a time they had to believe when there was
nothing to believe in. I always tell anxious clients "We are not going to
worry until there is something to worry about". So let's not get so busy living
that we forget to imagine a life worth living.
