mAINTENANCE ASSESSmENTS Dates to be determined & at customer request.
DeKalb Technical College can administer a Maintenance Training evaluation that will help design a training
program to meet you needs. This written assessment is divided into Electrical and Mechanical with a total
of fourteen (14) topics. Each test topic takes about forty (40) minutes to complete. Tests topics can be
combined to create a customized training plan for your company. The cost of the written assessment is $280
per person for the entire test or $20 for each test topic. The tests are administered at the Newton Center of
DeKalb Technical College, 8100 Bob Williams Parkway, Covington, Georgia. On-site testing is also available
for companies for an additional cost of $200 per four hour session for each testing proctor.
Once the written assessment is completed and a customized training plan has been created, to assist in
your training, DeKalb Technical College will provide you with a set of books covering the subjects in the
Maintenance Skills Assessment Test. The cost is $750 for the set of 27 books. Each section of the test is
represented by two books, except PLC, which will correspond directly to the recommendations on the

Directed Instruction classes provide the industrial student with instruction at a time convenient for the
student, as well as hands-on activities and one-on-one + interactions with the instructor. All instruction will

The following guidelines must be followed for successful completion of the class:
• Each student is responsible to set his/her own schedule to attend the class in order to complete
the class hours and requirements between specific dates. Student grades will be based on class
requirements including hands-on demonstrations and tests completed by the last day of class.
• The Industrial Labs and Classrooms will be open Mondays through Thursdays for instruction during
day and evening hours according to the instructor’s schedule. Students may set their own schedules to
complete the class requirements during the scheduled hours.

The Basic Rider Course is a research-based and action-oriented core curriculum designed to teach beginning
motorcyclists of all ages the physical and mental skills necessary to ride safely on the street. It includes basic
motorcycle operation, maximum effective braking techniques, turning skills, obstacle avoidance maneuvers,
classroom instruction and ten hours of “on cycle” training.

This course is offered to the experienced motorcyclists, of all ages, who own and operate a motorcycle.
The ERC was developed to address the critical skills and knowledge needed for relatively low risk, enjoyable
on-street motorcycling. The ERC teaches advanced braking and swerving skills and traction management.
Students provide their own motorcycle, proof of insurance and protective riding gear.

WITHDRAWAL / REFUND POLICY
No refund will be granted for one or two day seminars unless withdrawal is requested twenty-four hours
before the class is scheduled to begin.
Students desiring to withdraw from classes for any reason must secure the proper withdrawal form from
the Office of the Registrar at the campus or center where you registered. This form must be completed and
returned. The day the completed form is received is the official day of withdrawal.
Students registering for classes which are not one or two day seminars will be entitled to a 100% refund
before the first scheduled class meeting. Students withdrawing beyond the first scheduled class meeting
will be entitled to a 75% refund for the first 7 calendar days including the first scheduled class day. There
will be no refund beyond the 7th calendar day after class begins.
All refunds are issued by DeKalb Tech Accounting and Business Services. Refund checks will be mailed four
to six weeks after the official date of withdrawal.
NOTICES FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
Continuing Education (non credit) classes and seminars are subject to cancellation in the event of
inadequate enrollment.
Continuing Education (non credit) classes and seminars cannot be converted to credits and cannot count
toward degrees, diplomas, or technical certificates of credit.
If payment is made by credit card and the student subsequently withdraws, DeKalb Technical College will
forward a refund by mail in the form of a check. No refunds will be credited to the student’s credit card.

Can you SEE yourself in the Opticianry field?
Opticianry includes everything from eye anatomy and physiology,
to selection and sizing of eyewear and contact lenses. A student in this area
will achieve experience in all phases of laboratory procedures by producing
commercially acceptable eyewear from basic laboratory components. The
student will receive clinical training in the techniques of fitting, selecting,
and adapting eyewear and contact lenses to patients.

COrPOrATE TrAINING SErvICES – Corporate programs and services are scheduled on an as
needed basis to assist organizations with workforce development needs. Schedules are flexible to meet
client requirements. This may include training consultation, organizational development, workshops and
seminars, customized training and human resource development outsourcing. Corporate academies and
partnerships are available. Retraining Tax Credits are provided for certain changes in technology and
organizational structure.
Courses and workshops are available in Customer Service, Leadership and Team Development, Technical
Skills, Computer Software Applications and Automation, Workplace Spanish and other Languages,
Communications, Job Specific Skills Training for Industrial and Service Operations, Occupational Health
and Safety, Maintenance & Advanced Technology. Additional programs may be designed to meet specific
performance requirements.
GEOrGIA QUICk STArT TrAINING – services for eligible new,
expanding and existing companies may be available at no cost.
CErTIFIED SPECIALIST PrOGrAmS – In response to business needs, workforce certification
programs are offered by the office of economic development. Programs include Commercial Straight Truck,
Electrical Lineworker Apprentice, and Diesel Engine Repair.
ONLINE LEArNING PrOGrAmS – Training is offered in a variety of subject areas and is available
when you want it at affordable prices. The online training includes non-credit programs such as Pulp
and Paper Operations Management and non-credit, continuing education programs including software
applications, telecommunications, and industrial maintenance and safety. For more information, call

sessions.
COmmUNITy CONTINUING EDUCATION – Non-credit open enrollment programs are available
for individuals seeking professional and personal development. Programs are available in a number of
occupational areas to enable individuals to earn continuing education units/CEU’s required to maintain
