					POLAR BEAR FIELD HOCKEY CAMP Welcome to camp! We are very pleased and excited to offer a camp that can cater to the needs of field hockey players — whether they are beginners or very experienced players. Our goal will be to provide a five-day camp designed to help you prepare for preseason and your upcoming season. The Polar Bear Field Hockey Camp is a great way to help you reach your potential for the upcoming season. And it’s a lot of fun, too!

Nicola Pearson, the Director of the Polar Bear Field Hockey Camp, is the head coach for the Bowdoin College field hockey program. The Polar Bears have established themselves as one of the premiere teams in the nation, winning the school's first-ever NCAA Championship with a perfect 20-0 season in 2007. Under Coach Pearson, Bowdoin has won four NESCAC Championships and has been to the NCAA Division III Final Four in each of the past three seasons. In addition, Pearson has been named the NESCAC Coach of the Year four times, in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007. Before coming to Brunswick, Pearson was an assistant field hockey coach at Yale University, head coach at Amherst College and assistant at Connecticut College. In addition, Pearson was the Regional Administrative Directior of the United States Field Hockey futures program. A native of England, Pearson attended St. Mary’s College of London, receiving her degree in Physical Education and Biology. The camp will feature numerous other college and high school coaches and current Bowdoin team members. In addition, one of Bowdoin’s certified trainers will be on staff at the camp.

LOCATION The camp will be held at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Participants will have the use of Pickard Fields — some of the best groomed turf in all of New England. The state-of-the-art Farley Fieldhouse and the A. Leroy Greason pool will also be at the disposal of campers in addition to two weight training facilities. EQUIPMENT • sneakers or turf shoes for indoor & turf play (no cleats) • field hockey stick • mouthguards, shin guards • swimsuit and towel • goalies must supply their own protective equipment • water bottle MEALS Campers must provide their own lunch.
