Dribbling Lesson Plan By Mike Sylvis Set In the begging of class I would have everyone run around the gym for five minutes. Then they will stretch before the lesson begins      Teacher: Mike Sylvis Subject Area: P.E Grade level: 5th Unit title: Basketball Lesson: Dribbling Objectives  Students will be able to demonstrate that they can dribble a ball half way down the court with their heads up and back. Materials/Resources Needed:  Basketball court and at least five basket balls  Students  Challenges Anticipatory Set  Split them up in small groups . Demonstrate the skill then have them perform the task a couple times in their small groups Objective/Purpose  Students will be able to demonstrate that they can dribble a ball half way down the court with their heads up and back Input  I will have to go through each step and slowly demonstrate every step over and over again as many times as needed. Model  Bring every body in close and go through step by step slowly and repeat as many times as needed. Assessment Check for Understanding  This will have to be done by observation  Pictures or video tape of the student can be used as proof of their progression Guided Practice  Follow my demonstration, practice in their small groups, and then see if the students improve after each class. Closure  Students will be able to demonstrate that they can dribble a ball half way down the court with their heads up and back Independent Practice  Ask them to practice at home and if possible have them take a photograph to prove that did it.  Ask them to write about their experiences that they have had with basketball  Have the student find an article about other students playing basketball Accommodations  Students that prove to be exceptional at this skill will be challenge by having to dribble around cones. And teach them advance moves like crossover and behind the back  Students with disabilities will have partners and be my personal demonstrators & get help during, before and after class. Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.       
