Children with Down syndrome in Russia
• Each year in Russia almost 2000 children with Down syndrome are born. 85% of parents reject their little ones because of outdated ideas relating to the incapacity of the child’s development. In Russian there is no government service for early intervention relating to children with DS and their families.

Early Intervention Center «Downside Up»


Home visits, work with speech and physical therapists, group preparation for kindergarten, psychological support for the parents. 850 families from Moscow and 60 regions of Russia enrolled in March 2006. Literature about the integration of children with Down syndrome into society. All programs are free!






