Town of Penfield Supervisor
George C. Wiedemer
The Town of Penfield is partnering with the Penfield Business Association for the
second annual Four Corners Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 6 from
2:00 to 6:00 pm. Festivities include carolers and a Penfield High School choir,
crafts with the Lions Club, children’s activities, refreshments, shopping, raffles, gift
certificates and a tree lighting ceremony in Schaufelberger Park at 6:00 pm. Santa
Claus is also expected to attend. Dozens of businesses will participate in the
celebration with a repeat of last year’s successful “map stamping” contest. The
grand prize is a flat screen television. To be eligible, get a special map from any
participating business and have it stamped by business owners as you visit their locations. Fully stamped maps will
go into a drawing for the grand prize. Volunteers are still needed for this celebration; please call Penfield Recreation
at 340-8655 to help. Mark your calendar to join us and please consider staying for dinner at one of the Four Corners
area restaurants.

There’s still time to send a letter to Santa Claus by way of Penfield Recreation. Our talented staff has again made
direct contact with Santa's Workshop in the North Pole. Just write your letter and mail it to the Penfield Recreation
office by December 5 to give Santa time to check Christmas lists. (Include return address.) We’ll make sure Santa
reads your letter and returns a personal reply before Christmas. Mail to: Santa Claus, c/o Penfield Recreation, 1985
Baird Rd., Penfield, NY 14526. Questions? Call Penfield Recreation at 340-8655.

If you’re following Penfield’s 2007 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update, you may want to review
summary results of a 2008 Penfield Indoor Community Center Feasibility Survey now online at
www.penfield.org. The Recreation Master Plan Update called for a feasibility study to consider renovating
and expanding the existing Community Center and/or building a new multi-purpose recreation facility. A
survey was conducted last summer to gather citizen feedback on the community’s use of existing indoor
recreational facilities for sports, fitness, performing arts and creative activities.
Results identify current use of recreation facilities and programs, and measure interest in new options and
scenarios. This information, along with demographic projections, will help us determine the future
recreation needs of all Penfield residents.
A public information meeting is planned for January 27, 2009 at the Penfield Community Center to share
results and recommendations with citizens. Details will follow in January.
As always, feel free to contact me directly on any topic at supervisor@penfield.org or 340-8631. To stay up-to-date
on all that’s going on in Penfield visit www.penfield.org or tune into PCTV Cable Channel 12.
