Mr. Sullivan, You've been very quiet the last couple of days. Did I get your email address correct? Please, tell Mr. Madigan what you were telling me on the phone for an hour on Wednesday. Here's your chance. Tell him how poorly the property tax code has been written. Go ahead. Let him know. And have you found that statute yet? The one that says the BOR and Assessor cannot change my exemption? While I'm working on 35 ILCS 200, you could at least be doing that. Right? C'mon Mr. Fancy Lawyer Guy. Show me the statute. Since you know more than the entire state legislature, show me that specific statute. I've overpaid $2,250 dollars since October that no one ever told me I would have to pay. My taxes went up 45% in a single day, and now seven months later, the BOR and Assessor's Office is still giving me the runaround. If you cannot provide that statute, then fix the problem and issue a refund. Could it be that it's super convenient for you to say that my problem is the fault of the state of Illinois rather than owning up to the responsibility that you might have in correcting the matter? I'd really like a response before I spend my whole weekend looking at tax code so I can prove that you've been lazy and unsupportive. And by the way, I won't be voting for Brendan Houlihan any time in the future since he (and you) appear to be turning your back on the one constituent that is pointing out your obligation in the matter. In fact, I'd say that people need to know more about Mr. B. Houlihan's performance on the issues that really matter to them. At the end of the day, you know that I'm presenting the truth. Which is why I am not going away nor am I backing down. And while you lurk in the corners, and try to talk to me on the phone (away from the spotlight), I have no problems having these discussions out in the open via email with everyone else copied in. With my Commissioner and his staff copied in; with my state representative and her staff copied in; with IDOR copied in; with the PTAB copied in; with Governor Pat Quinn's office copied in; and with Speaker Madigan copied in - I am telling you that you will not be breaking the law by correcting my homestead exemption so that I am receiving the fair treatment by the county that all of my neighbors are getting. You have no more excuses left. Cordially, David

Description: These are a chain of emails where I repeatedly asked the Cook County Board of Review about Illinois's property tax code that allows them to make the final decision concerning all homeowner's exemptions and homestead exemptions. If you ask anyone whose property tax bill has gone "up" in Chicago or Suburban Cook County due to an exemption loss, the Cook County Board of Review commonly says they do not have the power to change this. Not only is that true, but here are the emails where they've repeatedly ignored my request for political reasons that I can only interpret to be less than honorable.
